Musical Notes are used in many games, but are primarily known in the Banjo-Kazooie series. In Banjo-Kazooie they are collected to gain access to more areas in the game. In Banjo-Tooie they are collected to learn more moves.

Overview

Musical Notes are one of the primary collectibles in the Banjo-Kazooie series. They appeared in the first game. They come in two sizes and make a xylophone-like sound when collected. These include the standard nest of 5 notes, of which there are typically 16 in a level. There is also one Treble Clef per level, which is worth 20 notes. Notes serve different purposes in each game.

Uses in each game

Banjo-Kazooie

In this game, the player collects notes throughout each level, with 100 notes in each one. When completing/exiting/dying in a level, your amount of notes collected is recorded, and all of the notes reappear in their locations. Your highest note collection totals for each level are added together. There are note doors in this game. You need to collect the required amount of notes to open the door. These doors lead to other parts of Gruntilda's Lair.

Banjo-Tooie

In this game, there are 100 notes in each main level. There are also 100 notes scattered around the Isle O' Hags. The difference between this and the previous game, is that once you collect a nest of notes, they disappear for good. Notes are required in this game to learn new moves. Sergeant Jamjars has increasingly higher note requirements for the more advanced moves.

Banjo-Kazooie: Grunty's Revenge

In this game, much like Banjo-Tooie, notes are collected in order to learn new moves. The teacher in this game is Bozzeye, Bottles' great great grandfather.

Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts andamp;amp; Bolts

In this game, notes are said to be used as currency to buy new vehicle parts and upgrades. There are supposed to be gold, silver, and copper notes, with each one worth different amounts.
