The Gravity Hammer can be used for a one-hit kill on other players in multiplayer. A player wielding a shotgun can defeat a player with a hammer in the middle of his melee lunge, but in the Campaign, the hammer is more effective than the shotgun against tough enemies like Brutes and Hunters. Though an enemy player wielding a hammer may at first seem defenseless, the shockwave emitted when the hammer is swung can actually bat away grenades and even rockets.
