Well, given the good news about GB, I decided to give up on the idea of trying to find somewhere to post the stuff which I have written, and continue here. The Hundred Line – Last Defense Academy Easily my GOTY , Danganronpa and Zero Escape are some of my favorite games and having both Kazutaka Kodaka and Kotaro Uchikoshi together (plus other people) is really cool. Talking about the game is a...

There's been a lot of excitement around Giant Bomb recently, and the fact that it is finally an independent website no longer shackled to a corporate overlord who doesn't understand it, controlled by the staffers who love it and have direct communication with the community and audience. I understand why that's exciting. People want to see the old shows they love come back. They're hoping to see...

Hello again! This is my blog, post independent GB, and I think it’s great that the site can continue! Hope to see your comments here soon!

We are often told that in times of great crisis, human morality is put to the test. In Fallout 3, the test has already failed. The bombs have dropped, and Civilisation has crumbled. What remains is a wasteland—scorched earth and scattered remnants of a once-gleaming society, where radiation poisons the air and memories of the old world flicker through rusted radios playing cheerful 1950s jingle...

I haven't been so much interested in playing video games recently, moreso exploring the feeling that gaming gives me. For me, it's figuring out a puzzle platformer, it's understanding how to break an RPG. It's conquering a challenge you set for 5 year old you. It's visiting old friends in a new coat of paint. Gaming has such a place in interactive entertainment, that being, anything requiring y...

About a week ago, when it looked like the site would soon be gone for good, @bladeofcreation started a thread entitled “ I’m Ready to Speak My Truth ,” and admitted actually liking Redfall . A brave thing to admit, we can all agree. In the same spirit, I made a confession of my own : As long as we’re making confessions, some years ago I played a kickstarted erotic BL/gay-themed visual novel gam...

May this day go down as the day of Independence for Giant Bomb. Just a few days ago I was playing montages in my head of all the great times over the years had on giant bomb and sad that it was going to be a distant memory. But what I hoped would at least be a sliver lining turned out better than anyone could ever hope, the boys own the site out right. Can't wait for the future, Giant Bomb 4 Lyfe

It's May again. Right after April, as expected. So what are we doing for the usual May Mayrathon this year? Besides maybe never using "Mayrathon" again? Well, last year (2024) it was May Mightiness : a series wherein I could transparently show off my newish mid-range PC's chops with a bunch of expensive Indies and mid-tier budget games I had zero hope of running on my previous system without it...

I hope that now GiantBomb is fully independent, that the content on the site doesn’t have to be SEO driven but more driven by the community, and that this place is a home for gamers to write, hang out, create, and support one another. So what I’m going to write below are more long-term goals I would love to see for GiantBomb, and at the moment, are just random ideas that I’m spitballing. User R...

In February, I started playing Flower, Sun, and Rain on the Nintendo 3DS while on a plane to Dallas, going to a Chat Pile show and spending time with a friend. Every time I boot this game up to play another chapter, I always make sure to let the intro video play out. It always sets the vibe for what I'm about to jump into, no matter where I am. I did the same for The Silver Case when I played t...

Aw yeah, aw yeah! It’s been so long, you thought I left you—but I was in Nintendo jail with my nephew. I'm still not entirely sure what the future plans are for the newly independent Giant Bomb and whether they can afford to keep the lights on for a site this large, but all the same I'm going to keep on keepin' on for a while longer (though with some serious consideration for an alternative dum...

I've really gone through a roller coaster of emotions lately with Giant Bomb. I've always kind of thought that the writing was on the wall for years and years with the various former GB duders and dudettes coming and going! And mostly going. When Vinny, Brad, and Alex left, that really hurt but I understood. And hearing them talk about what was expected to be the final death knell of Giant Bomb...

Photo by Niek Doup on Unsplash Some things lose their spark too quickly. You try them once, and by the second or third time, it feels like you’ve seen it all. That’s the trap online casinos work hard to avoid. The good ones know that it’s not enough to offer their players flashy slots or card tables; they need to constantly make things interesting, or else players will move on. From surprising...

Hey folks. If, indeed there are still any folks around to see this. Don't mind me. I'm just stopping by to turn off the metaphorical lights before I leave this little corner of the internet for good. I've spent the last few days archiving all these old blog posts (yep, all four-hundred-plus of them) for my own reference, since I don't trust they'll be available here for too much longer. I start...

I started undergrad in August 2007, a little bit before Jeff Gerstmann and GameSpot parted ways. I discovered Giant Bomb in 2011, about a month before I received my Bachelor's Degree. I was updating a computer lab and actively dropping out of grad school when I learned of Ryan Davis' death. I shepherded the Giant Bomb Community Endurance Run for its first few years before @thatpinguino stepped...

O Fandom, you can come and render your brand dumb, But we're not just random, we're acting in tandem. You came and you lynched, but we're under Dan's thumb. Corporate synergy? It's lethargy, because you have no energy. Business model was proven but now you pray for RNG. Pal, you had value, but now all you can do Is hunt for that dollar and live like Ayn Rand do. You bought up Coca-Cola and remo...

EDIT - Rarely have I ever been so glad as to say NEVER MIND! But I'll keep this blog intact so you can get in touch with me elsewhere if you so choose. Heya folks. Not much to say that hasn't already been said about the site, but this isn't a goodbye - it's a "here's my contact info and you damn well better get in touch" post. First, the best place to find me is probably Facebook here . If that...

So, here we are. I frankly don't care where you stand on the spectrum of thinking the site turned a new leaf or was lurching on life support when it comes to the last three years of Giant Bomb. Almost everyone who has helmed, co-hosted, or directed a show or program on this site deserves massive credit for their hard work. Every video to have graced Giant Bomb during these last handful of years...

I've been writing dumb bullshit on this website since I was sixteen years old, literally half my lifetime ago, and this year was the year where I decided I wanted to be a little more regular with that. That didn't end up being the case, although you can be sure that I'll finish my Mid-Budget Action-JRPG write ups once things in my personal life have calmed down a bit. Unfortunately, given the s...

Would you be surprised to learn this image comes from a pro-AI site? (Image Source: Digiday) For the past three months, I've been writing versions of this intro in my head. And basically every day during that time, I've made significant changes to it. Until, oh, a week ago, I wasn't sure if I should even bother writing this blog because of an obvious winner. But now hot messes are all the rage,...

Well darn, it looks like some folks around here are acting foolishly and need some reminders. That's all good and swell, because that means that we get to, once again, perform my favorite activity: making a list. Huzzah! We should look at some games that have, also, lost their way and caused a real concern for the nice people who worked so hard on it, just for you. It's such a shame that there...

Note: Shockingly, it appears that the earlier version of this was deleted without explanation. I would never suspect the mods of doing something like that, but I would suspect whatever thin-skinned dickhead is running things over at Fandom of demanding it, so this has been revised to be More Brand Safe! Hello Giant Bomb Community, It's me, [redacted for brand safety]! You may have noticed some...
