Long Live Giant Bomb! Let's Get Vertical!
I've really gone through a roller coaster of emotions lately with Giant Bomb. I've always kind of thought that the writing was on the wall for years and years with the various former GB duders and dudettes coming and going! And mostly going. When Vinny, Brad, and Alex left, that really hurt but I understood. And hearing them talk about what was expected to be the final death knell of Giant Bomb...
I've really gone through a roller coaster of emotions lately with Giant Bomb. I've always kind of thought that the writing was on the wall for years and years with the various former GB duders and dudettes coming and going! And mostly going. When Vinny, Brad, and Alex left, that really hurt but I understood. And hearing them talk about what was expected to be the final death knell of Giant Bomb and what Gerstmann has had to say about it all...I get it even more. But I've still stayed loyal and interested in the product throughout all of it's various eras. I said on the forums that Voicemail Dump Truck and Blight Club are among my favorite things that GB has ever produced in any era. And there have been so much discussion about how awful it's been for a very, very long time for anything involved with GB. It was the community and the camaraderie that has kept it going!
So...not having any VMDT or Blight Club of Game Mess Mornings AND the threat of the entire archive just going away? That's been a tough thing to lose, leaving a bit of a hole that I was hoping would maybe be filled by various duders focusing more on Patreon stuff. But I was watching on Twitch at PAX when they announced that they bought it from Fandom?! I just...I can't even believe how happy this makes me. Great stuff!!!
