Enjoying Flower, Sun, and Rain : Scattered Thoughts

In February, I started playing Flower, Sun, and Rain on the Nintendo 3DS while on a plane to Dallas, going to a Chat Pile show and spending time with a friend. Every time I boot this game up to play another chapter, I always make sure to let the intro video play out. It always sets the vibe for what I'm about to jump into, no matter where I am. I did the same for The Silver Case when I played through it on my Steam Deck. I'm only 30% on my profile right now, trying my best to play a chapter at least once a week. My approach to playing this game feels kinda weird. Y'see, this year I've been a much more active theater goer, and I've basically basing my play-through around getting out of the house. Spending hours loitering at the theater before my movie starts, playing a bit of the game or reading some comics I brought with me (feel kinda lucky that none of the employees have ever kicked me out, so that's nice). I got a free movie voucher from when I went to the hatsune miku movie (Colorful Stage!: The Movie - The Miku Who Can't Sing) and I still need to watch Sinners.

I really love how differently this game carries itself compared to The Silver Case, it has a much more chill and laid back vibe compared to some of the moody seriousness of Silver Case. I find myself humming the music aloud while playing, especially Toriko's theme (she has the pink crocodile, it's very cool). Sumio Mondo is a searcher and his partner, Catherine, helps him find the solution to any pertinent problem. I love the music that plays when you flip open Catherine, it makes you ready and pumped to be able to solve any puzzles that comes your way. I think the puzzles in this game are pretty interesting, all the solutions revolve around the hotel guidebook that you have. The puzzles aren't super hard necessarily but I think that it's cool that the game makes you search for the answer that way, reading through this book and seeing strange details that might seem not important but get used for a puzzle later or an optional lost and found container (optional collectibles with their own puzzles).

I love how every chapter opens with Sumio getting woken up by the phone, being told that breakfast is ready, him getting out of bed, and immediately falling to the ground. It's always delightful.

okay it's midnight, might add more later but i have work tomorrow x_x
