The 1995 computer game edition of the classic board game brings the series to CD-ROM, with special animations and support for both networked and Internet multiplayer.

Overview

Monopoly, also known as Monopoly CD-ROM or CD-ROM Monopoly, is a virtual board game developed by Westwood Studios and published by Parker Brothers (Company) (later Hasbro Interactive in North America and Virgin Interactive Entertainment in Europe) for Windows PCs on September 30, 1995. A computer game adaptation of the Parker Brothers (later Hasbro) board game of the same name and the third official adaptation for PCs (after the 1992 game Monopoly Deluxe (Game)) and its first CD-ROM release, Monopoly CD-ROM features hundreds of unique animations based on player movement and events and the option for both LAN and Internet multiplayer (with the option to convert language and currency between international players). The game later received a console port by Gremlin Interactive Studios for the Sony PlayStation, released in North America on October 1997, in Europe on November 1997, and in Japan on January 1998. While it reuses the same rules and animations, it features a new user interface.
