My inability to make renewable energy work economically, brings the city closer and closer to financial ruin.

Gordon Freeman fights through the hostile world of Xen until he reaches its ruler, the Nihilanth. The fight begins.

Freeman finally finds the scientists. They want to open a portal to the alien wolrd Xen so Freeman can attempt to stop the alien invasion.

Still outside, Freeman is en route towards the Lambda complex. The soldiers sent by the goverment have transformed the Surface into a warzone. But Lambda is getting close.

Gordon traverses the administration and r & d areas of black mesa and finds a prototype experimental weapon. Then he reaches the surface where thing are not going well.

Freeman gets captured by ninjas,, but manages to escape the deathtrap he was thrown into, an reaches the industrial area.

On my way through the not so populated areas of the Black Mesa installation, I meet a scientist who lets me know that the best way to reach the Lambda complex leads trough the old industrial complex. The security has some holes there.

I activate the generator and neutralize the giant monster. Now nothing should stand in the way of taking a chill ride trough the old train tunnels. Nothing except soldier and their fortified posts.

I destroy a giant monster with the help of a blast from a rocket test engine. After I arrive at the old tram system, I find it kind of difficult to start the Generator there. And oh... another giant monster.

While fighting his way through the storage area, Gordon Freeman meets a scientist who tells him that there could be some other scientists at the Lambda Complex who could fix the situation. To get there he has to go trough the old abandoned train tunnels.

While fighting his way through the administrative sectors of Black Mesa, Freeman learns that the goverment has its own definition of "rescue".

From the Handbook of how to escape: Load battery. Hook up battery to teleporter. Send everyone trough teleporter. Drive off into the setting sun.

I reach the other scientists they figure out that, in order to use the teleporter, it has to be calibrated via an other machine on Xen. Guess who's going to Xen to do this.

As I arrive the Surface, I realise that the goverment sent killer droids to contain the situation. I also learn that there is an old teleporter which I and some scientists could use to escape Black Mesa.

A regular working day in Barney Calhoun's life. That is until the fabric of space time rips open and aliens start to overrun the installation.

I begin Portal and pass the first 11 test chambers. On the Way I find both parts of the Portal Gun and weird scribblings on a wall, left there by my "predecessor"(?).

Typhon is the most powerful adversary I have met. He is seemingly undefeatable. But since the Well of Rebirth grants me immortality I lock him into an eternal battle atop of the Mount Olympus.

Deep inside Mount Wusao, trapped in halls of obsidian, is Typhon. Waiting to take revenge on the gods. As I arrive I witness the Telkine freeing him and he uses a portal to enter the Olymp. I defeat the Telkine and follow him.

Upon arriving at the Jade Palace, the Yellow Emperor informs me, that the Telkine who has stolen the sickel will probably use it to free the titan Typhon who was trapped under the mountain of Wusao by the gods. Once freed, he would go to the Olymp to take revenge on the gods who banned him there. I have t stop the Telkine before he succeeds in freeing the titan.

The Great Wall of China is infested with Peng. I leave it behind me and traverse the provinces of China until I reach the city of Chang'an.

Traveling further and further I pass trough the outer reaches of Mongolia and the Mongolian High Plains until I reach Guanzhong. And time is running out.

I hurredly travel through the far east until I reach the Amdo--Region. Will I be in time to save the sickel?

I fight my way through Babylon and the Temple of Marduk, only to find out that I am too late. The sickel is gone. The Telkine has taken it to the east. I follow him...

I fight my way through The Temple of Hatscheput into Prometheus' Halls where I step through the portal to Babylon. There the race for Cronos' Sickel continues.

The Telkine who I defeat in Ramses Tomb leaves a stone tab. Imhoteb decifers it's writings and we learn that the Telkine are after a artefact called The Sickel of Cronos. It has the Power to kill gods. I depart towards Babylon where it is located. A race against time begins.

I defeat the Scorpion King at Atums Temple. Now I have all the ingredients for Imhotebs summoning ritual. It fails though. He comes to the conclusion that the gods have forsaken us, and sends me to Ramses' Tomb to retrieve the final artefact after which the Telkine is after.

After I hand over the Scroll of Summoning to Imhotep, I learn that to complete the summon, we need the Hand of Order and the Eye of Chaos. I decide to go ater the Hand of Chaos first. It is located in Gizah.Upon my arrival there I see that one of the pyramids have been broken open by monsters. I drive them away and find Kufu's Staff. Then I retrive the Hand of Order from under the Great Sphinx.

My travels lead me along the Nile, past the ruins of the old kingdom right to the city of Memphis which is besieged by monsters.

I kill the Minotaur and the Telkine inside the Minoasian Labyrinth. But instead of rolling the credits and celebrate my heroism, they send me to Egypt.

After I easily defeat a "dangerous" Giant Limos, I reach Athens. It is there where I meet the Great Alastor, Ruler of the Undead. And kick his ass.

In Pythias Cave I meet three Gorgons. I convince them of my power via violence. After i emerge victorius from that fight, a warrior woman tells me of a great mage. The Telkine. He has the power to summon monsters which do his bidding. And he is on his way to Athens.. Well then. Off to Athens.

After long travel, I meet the Oracle of Delphi. She sends me to Parnass Mountain where I should find my destiny.

I wander around for an hour and meet cyclops for the third time, visit Megarra again and hang around the Helikos Pass.

After half an hour of fighting I reach the town of Ambrossos where despair, the rumour of a blcksmith and a merchant who lost his goods awaits me.

I reach Megara, where I learn about the olive twik´g I would need as a sacrifice the the Oracle of Delphi. Oh... and cyklops.

I run through Sparten woods, listen to the story about Artemis and Achteon and purify a spring for some Dryad.

Leonidas wants to see if I'm worth his time. Also: layman physics and racism in teamspeak. It's in German though :D

Finished. A no brainer decision at the end and the friends and brother are free to go.

Sam and me blow up the oil depot. The poker game with Hoyt takes an unexpectet turn. Doesn't matter. A finger for his life.

Finally finished the bridge mission. Hoyt is a lunatic and Riley lives. Too bad I have to torture him :D

Sam and me are trying to get on Hoyt's good side..

I finally liberated all of the outposts. I get to know Sam Beckett and I steal a mercenary uniform.

Defending my flight to Mercenary Island and finally: The Bodysuit. Also: Mercenary Island is a f***ed up place.

Promised last time, kept word this time. Vaas gets the dagger and friends part ways.

Vaas hot sister, Badtown is Badtown and burning down weed fields to Reggea-Dubstep. With a flamethrower ... ooh yeah.

Don't push me, cause I'm close to the... mushroom induced halucinations behind me, shipwreck and wildlife in front. And Vaas has another rant.

Pro tip: Don't let yourself get distracted from real life when recording an gameplay video.

Being a prodigy in the use of recording software, I managed to record an hour long blackscreen. Awesome.

I am pretty sure that there will be treasure collection galore after the hunt..

Hunting makes me use inapropiate weapons. I don't like that either.

I die even more as I learn the inticracies(?) of the game.

This hour was more successful. I even defeated the Lamberts on my first attempt.

52 days have passed since my last cigarette. Since I'm writing this blog entry without much preparation and forethought it will be very brief. Gamingwise I'm trying to finish Starcraft: Insurrection which isn't really bad but doesn't come even close to the quality of the Blizzard campaigns. And if you decide to try them out be warned that the difficulty borders the land of frustration. The othe...

Well... here I am again. I effortlessy cruising trough my 22nd day without smoking a cigarette. After the last one I have smoked that is. Watching the soccer championship and eyoing the superb weather and the overall good Aachen atmosphere which always comes up when the weekend starts ;) Gaming wise I have reached the 3rd Terran singleplayer campaign mission of Brood War. I totally forgot how c...

Hi there. It's been a while since I last made one of these. I thougt "Why call a blog How to quit smoking" but smoke. My mom always told me not to lie so I didn't write anything during my fallback to unhealthy habits. But now I'm back on track again going really strong through my 14th day in a row of not smoking. As always I'm a really lazy ass blogwriter so this isn't segmented by headers or h...

This is a fanproduction for the Shadowrun Universe. It's called "Tor 3 (Gate 3)". The language is German but is has English subs. Enjoy :) Tor 3 from Enno Behrendt on Vimeo .

I'll make this quick: Best part: Vinny plaing the guitar and singing (at least I think it was him). Yes, Giant Bomb staff knows Pink Floyd (a definite plus). Saddest part: Ryan fighting to whitness the end of XBL (poor guy). Worst part: None. It definatly wasn't something where my eyes were glued to the screen, but having it run in the background while I cleaned up the apartement for my better...

This will be short since my life is as uneventful as always. If I count correctly I am now on day 36 of not smoking. Hell yeah. Achieved the first month. This calls for a ciga.... uhm no. Also, I'm almost through with Lexx: The Dark Zone. Final season, last 5 episodes to go. And the episodes get sillier and sillier. And because I like Star Trek (I really do) and you like Star Trek (you better d...

Yep, it's me and my silly blog about how to quit smoking again. I'm back on track counting 22 smoke free days and still going strong. I finally got really used to the feeling of saying "No, thanks." if someone offers me a cigarette. Games? What games? Oh, the ones I've been playing? Well, since I really don't have much time between sleep, eat, work, wife and friends I don't play that much. But...

...and it was awesome. So I was having a conversation with other GB users and after a refresh I saw a banner which looked like an ad for Star Craft 2 . But then I read live beta stream and realised that after missing all the other live streams that GB had done I finally stumbled upon this one by pure chance. I couldn't recall that they mentioned their plan to do a live stream although they obvi...

I somehow feel that I have to point out the reason why I blog. For someone like me that is not dependant on popularity to make a living, I blog because writing down my thought's on certain topics makes me think them out in greater detail. I don't do this for the hollow feeling of having as many people as possible reading what I have to say. If someone is interested in my life path and likes to...

Hi there. I hadn't had one of these for a long time. Mainly because my notebook broke and it took two effin months for it to return. Thank god the wait is over now. After that I went on a 6 week vacation at my sisters place . As anyone who follows the link can see it's a rural place and most of it only has access to DSL with a measly 386 kbit downstream and 64 kbit upstream. Which translates to...

It's no measure of health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society.

Yay. Day 24 and still clean ;) And guess what... I'm still waiting for my notebook to return. I'm seriously considering legal actions now. Although the company who handles the customer support for repair has responded to the mails I've sent them, they couldn't tell me when I can expect to have it back. Not cool. Here are some trailers of the movies I have watched on televsion during the last tw...

Hi there. So I got back up and brushed off the dust and am now, again, at day 11 of my non-smoking lifestyle. Also I'm in way in my fifth week without computer at home. I wouldn't have guessed it'd take so long for my notebook to return from beeing repaired. After my seemingly one hundreth email they told me it would arrive any day now. I can't tell you how annoying it is to listen to the Bombc...

So now I have failed myself again. My non-smoking streak is over. It has been umm... about 60 days and now I have to start al over once again. On top of that my notebook has done the "I won't turn on ever again" move on me three weeks ago. So now I have no computer to use at home. The only thing comforting me is that I have a PSP which is cracked able to stream youtube and other video portals,...

Not only is today the 43rd day without smoking a single cigarette. It's also the day I complete my 31st round around the sun. I traveled 29,14 billion kilometers through space and it took me 978285600 seconds to do so. I witnessed the Tschernobil incident, the fall of the Berlin Wall, the end of the Cold War, the rise of video game culture from something only geeks with giant glasses played alo...

I have almost reached the first smoke free month. And I still go strong. I didn't have any cravings for a cigarette since two weeks. The rest of my life also goes pretty smoothly and my 31. birthday is coming up. Haven't seen any recent movies lately and haven't played any recent games also. It's probaly not ver kapitalistic of me to say so, but I'm totally comfortable playing the games I alrea...

I just recognized we are only six years away from, rejunivation, cold fusion in every car, children wearing they pockets inside out, flying cars, on second precise weather prediction, commercial holograms, bionic implants for common people, the abolishment of all laywers and hoverboards. I can hardly wait. The first thing I'll get is the hoverboard. What about you?

And still not a single cigarette since the last post. And since it's weekend and I'm a bit too drunk to do the math, I'll not do the math and count the days. Saving that for the next time. On a side note: guess who's birthday it is today. Right! the king of pop would've turned 51 today. Here's a video to celebrate this special day. Somehow linking doesn't work so here is the link in full: http:...

Good news. Not one cig since my last post which brings the smokeless day count up to 13. Almos two weeks. I had a moment or two when I almost faltered. But I stood strong. But there are also bad news: Since I live in Aachen which is only about a 45 minute train ride away from Cologne I had planned to visit the GamesCom. But sadly as it is I have to much expenses in other matters ahead of me and...

Welcome to my journey to a smoke free life. Today habit almost got the better of me. All was going fine until the later part of the day when the craving for a cigarette began. I wanted one so badly my throat started to hurt. I already had the money for a pack in my hand and wanted to go out to buy one. But then I came to my senses. I ate about 15 chickenwings instead, drank about 2 liters of co...

Well, what can I say. I got down to 3 a day. That's a minor success. But far better is that I'll know by tomorrow if I have a new job at Quanta Computer Germany where I'll repair notebooks. And hey... I'm looking forward to srewing opnen notebooks 8 hours a day together with a bunch of nerds like me. It beats the shit out of the part time gas station clerk role I'm playing right now. Not to men...

I'm still failing. I've spent the last week at my sisters house where there was only a 380kbit dsl connection. Needless to say that that kind of bandwith is almost unusable for most modern day websites. couldn't watch any videos on GB unless I gave them at least 5 minutes to buffer and the site took almost 40 seconds to load up. I totally forgot how slow the internet can be. But hey, slow Inter...

EPIC FAIL!!! After going good fpr 15 days without a smoke I couldn't just say "no" today and now I have to start counting all over again. I lower my head in shame.

So here I am. Twelve days after my last cigarette and I still have no urge to light one up. I'm so proud of myself. Now if I would just stop to sweat like a 120 kilo man during a marathon all would be good.

5 days since my last cigarette and although I saw other people smoking, I wasn't tempted. This never happened before and I blame it all on the cold which I have. But it's almost gone and I wonder how things will go when I have fully recovered from it. But now for something completly different: I have found a very good ebook online. It's sci-fi and it's title is "Blindsight". It's a very good re...

So here I am. 2 days after my last cigarette and still going strong. The only thing that bothers me is that damn cold which's slooooooowly getting better.

quarantine So I decided to quit smoking some days ago. I have did so several times in the past two years. But this time it is different. Every time before I had to fight against the crave for a cigarette for several days. And I have to admit it was easier to quit smoking pot than it is to quit smoking regular cigarettes. But back to the difference: When I decided that "this will be my last ciga...

Part 4 Our heroes follow a call of distress through a portal. But that portal is unstable and space and time lose its meaning as they are going through. And so they come out at The Heroes Arrive Too Late the other site too late. The battle they were called to help at was over. Only the dead remain. The dead and some orcs who are plundering through the remains of those brave warriors who gave th...

As requested I wrote a review in German. I chose Pac-Man.

Today I bought the new issue of the German printmag "Gamestar" which had Age of Mythology as a full game packed in. I now have 160 games.

Part 3 I load up the game and delete the dead mage out of my party. As I watch her disappear It crosses my mind that it would have been wise to distribute her inventory between the remaining characters first. But hey, it’s only the tutorial. And because of that, I don’t really care about the orc leader that reappeared out of thin air. And not only had he respawned, but all the other orcs as wel...

This one is dedicated to my good friend Mary Jane who still comes to visit me on very very very special occasions. It also makes a very good track :)

Part 2 Still not having finished the tutorial, I start at the spot where I left off last time. At first I take a look around to examine the Tutorial room which looks like an underground cave. There is a little funnel in the middle of the cavern that looks a lot like the Pool. Maybe it is, but I Is it the Pool? can’t tell for sure and I don’t really care because it’s just the tutorial I’m playin...

Part 1 10 years ago heroes fought against the monsters spawned by the Pools of Radiance. They heroically manage to seal the dreaded Pools and save the city of Phlan. The pool awakes But now the peaceful times come to an end as the Pools of Radiance awaken anew and begin to drain away the life energy from Phlan. Elminster, the great mage, announces in front of the great council of Phlan that new...

Well, I finally came around to set up a Twitter feed. I really don't know what to think of it since I'm usually not into selfdisplay. But I'm willing to give it a try. What about you? Are you twittering, or tweeting or whatever it is called :)? I also welcome anyone who chooses to follow me and will follow in return.

You see, I have this long list of the games I own and can't decide on which one I should start playing next. So I am asking you, fellow GiantBomb users for suggestions. Please help me make a decision. Thanks, you are the greatest.

With all that beard talk in the latest Bombcast I had to upload some beard pictures of myself. caption caption But that experiment is long finished and now, thanks to the constant bickering of my wife and friends, I am clean shaved and short haired. What was I thinking?

And the weather forecast says it will stay this way for at least the rest of the week :(

So, I finally returned from the holiday visit at my sisters place and man I missed having an Internet connection. Not beeing able to look up some information I might need or sitting on the porcelain throne and watch youtube on my cracked psp really made me feel like it was 1995. Luckily I had sylvester to remind me what year it was. So i finally accomplished what my 14 year old nephew was tryin...

The Bloodhound Gang visit German TV show and realise that no one here really cares about nudity in TV. Especially not late at night :D
