Hi there. I hadn't had one of these for a long time. Mainly because my notebook broke and it took two effin months for it to return. Thank god the wait is over now. After that I went on a 6 week vacation at my sisters place . As anyone who follows the link can see it's a rural place and most of it only has access to DSL with a measly 386 kbit downstream and 64 kbit upstream. Which translates to...
Hi there. I hadn't had one of these for a long time. Mainly because my notebook broke and it took two effin months for it to return. Thank god the wait is over now. After that I went on a 6 week vacation at my sisters place. As anyone who follows the link can see it's a rural place and most of it only has access to DSL with a measly 386 kbit downstream and 64 kbit upstream. Which translates to 15 - 25 second wait time for the giantbomb site to load up and an unbearable buffertime for the videos longer then three minutes. But I gladly traded the Internetconnectivity for the option to visit my friends who are also living in that area. That beeing said those six weeks looked al lot like this video:
Sorry about the german. But it's the visuals that count ;) Needless to say I couldn't stay without a cigarrette because, you know, I'm married and no cheater and I needed something to soothe me while my friends had fun. I'm home since two weeks now and haven't touched a cig since which means I'm at 14 days again.
What else? Ah yes: The news that the original c&c games were legally up for free on the net convinced me to give them a try. I have the original DOS version of C&C: Tiberium Conflict somewhere in my big ass but unsorted collection of PC games but never really played it. I played the Playstation version of Red Alert but that was a pain in the ass due to the controls. Playing that tought me that RTS games and console gamepads don't go together well. So I downloaded all three games which took about 3 hours, tested the multiplayer of Tiberium Conflict which didn't work for me and tested the singleplayer. And man, the PC controls are AWKWARD to. I'm used to Starcraft which I play regularly since it was published 11 years ago and not being able left-click select and right-click attack or double left-click to select all units of the same type sure didn't help my gameplay. But I got used to it and played some hours and had some fun with it. Now I will definatly try out the other installments. I also bought the complete DVD seasons of LEXX: The Dark Zone. One of the most awesome sci-fi series of all time. Despite it's low budged production quality. The setting is one of the best in science fiction and nicely mature. Here is the intro of the first season:
Hope it inspires the one or another to watch it ;)
*edit* The Title for C&C: Tiberium Conflict is C&C: Tiberium Dawn for the rest of the world. The German title is C&C: Tiberiumkonflikt and lazy as I am sometimes I just translated that and didn't look up the facts. Thank god I'm no game journalist ;)
