With this game being part of Games With Gold I decided to play through it for the first time. This isn't a review of the multiplayer which is pretty much nonexistent although it seems like it would be okay going by how the fights play out in the single player. The game itself is a prequel to the movie Tron Legacy and takes place entirely within the grid. Which is a fancy way of saying this takes place in cyberspace. The programs have human forms and the creator Fynn has created a new monitor program named Anon (the Player) to investigate a murder of high ranked ISO. Throughout the game, he will need to face the Abraxas virus and his shadowy helper to secure the future of the Grid. Although it could go places it doesn't do much to keep the plot interesting. Where the game shines is when the player gets control.

Before you even get a weapon it becomes apparent this game is about traversing an environment with a movement system similar to Assassin's Creed. Although it is very linear and most of the jumps consist of running into a wall multiple times in a row. Most of the time this worked well yet over time falling to my death was always an issue. The jumps just keep getting worst as the game continues. With this being Tron the main way to attack foes is the ever reliable disc. It may look like a frisbee yet over the 4-6 hours of the game it'll get upgraded with new special attacks like a scatter bomb shot or a health leaching blast. Depending on what enemies pop up it'll be key to swap between the different discs to gain an advantage. At some point, I figured out the bomb disc was kinda overpowered for most situations. Running into a group and blowing them up was a pretty good way to start a fight.

So everything may not be balanced. I still enjoyed my time running and blasting my way through the game grid. Occasionally you'll get access to a tank to blow up a bunch of enemies which is always cool. Light Cycle sections are mixed in between the action platformer sections too. It is a bit hard to handle requiring some restarts to succeed which is unfortunate since these parts should be a lot cooler than they are portrayed in this video game.
Overall this covers all the gameplay elements and taken as a whole I can't say this is a very well crafted game. Especially since the multiplayer is now pretty much dead. Still, what it does do is recreate the world of Tron very well. If seeing the neon style or the Recognizer in a video game sounds cool then maybe this game is for you. Otherwise, I don't think the game has enough variation in the gameplay to keep anyone who isn't a big fan of this franchise interested in finishing it.
