A breath of fresh air now that we are seemingly trapped in the gaps between trilogies in all Star Wars spin offs (between episodes III-IV and VI-VII). Sadly it follows the same formula as all of these spin-offs, they introduce new characters that interact with the old favorites and then dissapear at the end to try and explain why they don't appear on the mainline entries.
Star Wars games are all about borrowing the aura and hype moments from the films, and this game gets it right with the first mission alone. Sadly the rest of the game doesn't keep up with the highs from the Hoth mission. I remembered why this was a constant rotation when renting back in the day, getting a cart with everything already unlocked just to play the Hoth and Junkyard missions was cool, just playing the rest of the levels almost as a curiosity. In the end, most levels are still okay, but that final level turret section was just miserable, specially playing on PC with the weird aim reset it does.
Aside from that, the gameplay held up surprisingly well, at least on the PC port. If it were to be remastered or enhanced in the future, I would only add more control remap options to remove moving with mouselook and fix the physics. The game seemed to have difficulties with going upstairs on the moving trains in the Junkyard level and, in the desert level after it, momentum seemed to build up really quick on some slopes placed next to bottomless pits, costing me a couple lives there.
