Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions Review

Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions is an update to a very loved PlayStation game. Well it is sort of an update and then again its a port. It takes the game of old and puts some new shine on some places, and gives some additions to others. If you liked the game the first time around you're going to like it this time around as well. FFT puts you in the land of Ivalice where you will have to assemble a group of characters and battle to save a princess and a nation.

The graphics are fitting for the PSP. I get the feelings of nastalga from the battles, but at the same time the addition of the cut-scenes make me want to play the game in its entirety again. Menus are crisp, and the characters are looking as good as ever.

The controls are solid. You're not going to find much to complain about, the only thing I had was a couple of frustrating minutes as I tried to figure out how to rotate the battlefield, once that was accomplished, I had no qualms. To do so, just so you know, all you have to do is use the analog pad on the PSP.

The music is the one thing about the Final Fantasy franchise as a whole that sets them a world appart. The music and sound sticks with you, it fits with the game that you've playing, and there's a good chance if you play the game long enough that you're going to find yourself trying to download it for your Mp3 player, then again that could just be me.

The game is a fantasy turn-based strategy game that is played out in 3D battlefields. You'll gain and lose characters that you can use in the battle. There are many different classes to mold your group with, as well as spells and items. To be completely honest with you you're looking at 60 to 80 hours, bare minimum, of content. Now I know that that amount of time is stretching it, even for me, but I promise that you are not going to be disappointed if you think this is your cup of tea. Another thing is if you're one that likes to have a game that has a real storyline, you're not going to be disappointed by this epic. This game has lost nothing in its 10 years, and its gained even more, 9.5 out of 10.
