TIME BUBBLE!

Singularity can be best described as a mind bend of a game. From the gripping atmosphere to the satisfying gameplay, Singularity is a hell of a ride. This game has been compared to Bioshock by a lot of people, and you can tell that Bioshock was the main influence of the developers. There are a lot of similarities: The over all creepy atmosphere, the audio recordings, and the little health syringes are Bioshock-like. But that's about where the similarities end, because luckily this game is not a Bioshock rip off.

Unlike Bioshock, the combat is essentially Call Of Duty with time powers. There are weapons that use the power of time, and these are generally the ones that are most satisfying. You also gain power-ups for your TMD - Time Manipulation Tool. You can do such things are age new objects or make older objects younger, create a little "time bubble" so you have the advantage of murdering your enemies while they move in slow motion, and you can send a powerful shock waves that knocks your enemies back. The combat is great and is probably my favorite part of the game.

Ahh!!

But where this game really succeeds at is blending the action with horror. There are certain parts that purely exist to creep you out, and in my opinion, they succeeded. It's not the scariest thing in the world, but no game had me more creeped out than Singularity, not even Bioshock. There are very good jump scares and some very scary enemies.

The most important thing about Singularity is the story. It's paced really well, and since there are minimal loading screens, it just makes you want to keep going. I will not go into spoilers, but towards the end of the game there is a great plot twist and a great choice you have to make. There are three endings in the game, and the decision in the game really makes you think. Though, you could reload your save and see the other endings if you'd like.

Over all, Singularity is both action packed and scary. The pacing of the story is almost perfect and the game isn't too hard. You should beat it in a week at the most, and though I haven't played the multiplayer, I still think it's worth a rent. It's a very good game that you should experience. And to end the review on a troll-ish note, I'm surprised that Activison put out an original title.
