Nobody likes going into a new generation dropping half a grand on hardware and already having to face compromises and workarounds, isn't that relatable?

Sadly can't recommend anything with HDR, but if you're on the cheap and just want to enjoy high framerates and maybe get a new 1080p monitor for your PC...

I myself will be using the XSX on my AOC C24G1 monitor I got a year ago (< $200), which does 1080p 120 Hz just fine via HDMI 1.4. Those monitors have had some good sales in the past (buddy of mine in Sweden got 2 for 1) and I have no complaints. If you need a new PC monitor and are looking to also plug a console into one of the remaining HDMI ports it might be an option. I'm more than happy with it until I get a true 4K+HDR TV or something. They don't make 4K TVs yet it seems that are small enough where my cursed Toshiba Regza is currently sitting.

I can see this becoming the norm amongst those who see the value in trying to engage with younger audiences. This is effectively how you stay relevant in the long-term, anyway.

Hot Pursuit was decent, but the rubber-banding was so... bad. Like later into the game you have to really take all the shortcuts and drive perfectly. Most of the time the last few seconds of a race determine everything. You can easily see the other races go WHOOSH on your radar which just infuriates me.

In online matches the traffic also is random and sometimes when you were gonna drift a corner 180 degrees there's just a car that'll put an end to you on some of the slimmer roads. Should have had an option to disable traffic as a host. REALLY pretty game for the time though. Just at that point I was hoping for more than what felt like Burnout physics without the spectacular crashes.

I think people give NFS 2015 a hard-time. It's great. I played it in the EA Vault and liked it so much I'd have bought it if it wasn't for the online requirement. If you haven't given it a try please do, it's much better than most of the other modern NFS games. I sunk more hours into it than Hot Pursuit on PS3/PC combined.

Skipped the PS4/Xbone gen. Chose a Series X for a few reasons, including the very clear communication up until that point regarding backwards compatibility. Cough cough.

All this collection does is just make me question how and if they're going to ever do a Virtual Console type thing for N64 games on Switch or if they're going to be limited to collections like these for their first-party titles.

I guess this is your chance to get them physically, because who knows what Nintendo will do with their online storefronts in a few years. Their track record for these things is quite bad.

If you wanted to play 30 fps Mario64 on an HDTV you could have played it on the WiiU via VC. I can see how fans are disappointed.

I don't know if Sony's brand is ever that strong. The PS2 could not save them from the 360 either.

as long as there is going to be both actual ownership (that includes reselling... *looks at Steam*) and some service front, I think that would serve people well. Not everyone wants to hang onto games - and I benefited a few times from just playing through a game on the EA vault instead of paying full price for it when I know I won't ever play it again. However if I do love a game, I do buy it! Like with movies.
