CONCEPT

Any character you can control in a game is a Player Character (PC), as opposed to a non-player character (NPC), which is a character that can only be controlled by the game.

Overview

The player character is inarguably the most important character in many video games. He or she is the in-game representative of the player's own self, and is subject to their commands.

The first player character with a distinct name was Pac-Man, in Namco (Company)'s Pac-Man franchise, which originated in the arcades.
