I was just about to replay this, after this thread reminded me of how awesome the game is, but apparently the Wii U version doesn't support the gamepad. And the PS4 version still isn't out :-| Hmmmm..

It doesn't look quite as good as the first trailer. It'll be fine though. You don't play Nintendo games for top of the range graphics.

This is one of the main things I love about Dark Souls and Bloodborne.

Freedom Planet is the best Sonic since Sonic 2. Go and play that instead!

All of the previews suggest this new 3DS one is quite good as well.

It needs to

-feel like there's genuinely a variety of different and interesting environments.
-have lots of reasons to actually explore each planet, rather than just landing and taking off again 10 minutes later.
-have a genuine sense of progression
-have a good final explanation behind the journey

Fire Emblem sure took a while to find any kind of popularity. Very unusual for a series to become suddenly popular at such a late stage.

Absolutely not. Established names will always do a bit better than new IPs because people know what they're getting. You've just picked some examples where developers have ended some series. Except they're nearly all going to be working on new ones in their place.

You don't really get a Nintendo console for shooters. Best games in general though:
