Gangplank Galleon
LOCATION
Gangplank Galleon is the location of the final boss fight in Donkey Kong Country, and is reused as the opening world in Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest.

Gangplank Galleon, the name of King K. Rool's ship, first appeared in Donkey Kong Country (Game) on the SNES as the final level in  the game, where Donkey Kong (Character) and Diddy Kongface King K. Rool himself. In this game, the ship stands on the overworld map only as a single level, whereas future versions of the ship have it stand as an entire world with multiple levels. In Donkey Kong Land (Game) on the GameBoy, the ship was used as the first world in the game and renamed "Gangplank Galleon Ahoy!" in which several levels occupy the ship and the area around it. King K. Rool is replaced by a large Floatsam enemy named Wild Sting as the boss presiding over the ship.

In Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest on the SNES, the Gangplank Galleon crashed into the shores of Crocodile Isle (Location) when King K. Rool (now renamed Kaptain K. Rool) fled to his hideout at the top of the Isle, K. Rool's Keep. The ship stands as the first world of this game as well, and held five levels: Pirate Panic, Mainbrace Mayhem, Gangplank Galley, Lockjaw's Locker, and Topsail Trouble, as well as the area boss, a giant Mini Necky (Concept) named Krow (fittingly fought in the "Krow's Nest"). On the map screen of Gangplank Galleon, one can see DK Island in the background, which was the main overworld in the original Donkey Kong Country. The ship serves much of the same purpose in Donkey Kong Land 2 on the GameBoy, though it is moved from the left side of Crocodile Isle to the right in the GameBoy Advance remake of Donkey Kong Country 2.    Recently, a music remix of the track that plays during the final boss fight in Donkey Kong Country (called Gangplank Galleon) appeared in Super Smash Bros. Brawl on the Rumble Falls stage.
