Overview

The phrase "The End" is commonly found at the end of stories in various media, including books, movies, and video games. Its appearance serves as a final punctuation mark signifying the story's conclusion. This is sometimes subverted with variations such as "The End?", which is meant to imply uncertainty in the ending no matter how neatly the story may have wrapped up.

Alternate Forms

Some games choose not to use the phrase "The End", but use an equivalent, most commonly for language reasons, but sometimes stylistically. One such example is the word "Fin", which is featured in similar usage in French media. In Japanese, media is often concluded with the kanji "終", which means "end".
