A 'Game Over' screen that turns out to be fake.

Occasionally, developers will choose to poke fun at the established conventions of game design, such as the classic example of the Game Over (Concept) screen. Normally a source of stress or frustration, a fake game over screen serves to trick the player for just a moment, to remind them that it is in fact just a game, and that normal rules may not apply. This can be a cathartic experience during a contextually appropriate time, and shows that a game does not take itself too seriously. A famous early example is the "Fission Mailed" screen in Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty.
