Overview

FromSoftware is a Japan (Location)-based developer, founded in 1986, that develops games for a multitude of platforms. They are best known in the West for creating the Souls (Franchise) franchise; however, the mecha-based action franchise Armored Core (Franchise) has been the face of the company for much of their history, with 15 entries being released over 16 years. Other notable releases by the studio include Elden Ring (Game), Sekiro, Bloodborne (Game), King's Field series, Otogi (Franchise) series, Lost Kingdoms (Franchise) series, 3D Dot Game Heroes (Game), Chromehounds (Game). They have published several Tenchu (Franchise) titles but have never developed a major console entry in the mainline series, instead relying developer K2 (Company), now owned by Capcom. As a result of losing K2 they eventually reached out to the original creators of Tenchu, Acquire (Company), to develop the fourth game exclusively for the Wii for reasons unknown. The Tenchu franchise has remained dormant since, Hidetaka Miyazaki (Person) briefly considered resurrecting the series but instead went the "spiritual successor" route with Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.
