Shrouded in mystery, Rival appears to throw a wrench in the Gunners attempts to stop Ventre. Outward appearances aside, Rival seems to have his own motivations for opposing the Gunners.

Rival is a bit of an enigma. He shows up at various points to do battle with Ciel, engaging him in one on one dogfights twice during the course of the game. He appears without warning, and leaves just as quickly. He appears to be working with Ventre in some way, but certain events that take place during his own epilogue seem to show that he has other motives in mind.
