Everybody knows that Sweep loves zombies. And Helicopters.I got a fairly good haul this year - which included a spanking new 16gb iPod Touch (not to be confused with the iPhone). I bunged all my tunes on there and have been rolling around stealing interwebs from unprotected wifi points. There is nothing more sweet than a successful wifi-jack.
I also got some driving lessons (that's right, I still can't drive) and Prince Of Persia for the 360. I got a few books, including "Attack Of The Unsinkable Rubber Ducks" by Cristopher Brookmyre and "The Walking Dead - book 2" the Graphic Novel. There was some other stuff like the obligatory stack of Christmas socks but that's most of the decent stuff.

So, having received my shiny new POD OF EYES or, as i like to call it, my Escape Pod - I decided to splash out on some crazy Apps.
My brother shares an apple account with his millionaire friend from school so he already has nearly every app available. This meant I could try out most of them before dishing out the cash. There are a lot of great apps which are fantastic in theory but realistically never get used. For example I have an app which contains over 1600 cocktail recipes but it's of little use considering we always end up drinking straight Sambucca anyway...

The applications I HAVE been using frequently are as follows;


Hey there, finger!!Rolando

This is a great little touch game, and I got kind of annoyed when Jeff dismissed it as a LocoRoco clone. It's a charming little game with a sharp clear design that works really well - allowing you to focus on the key aspects of the game without distracting you with unnecessary over-complicated graphics - the Physics puzzles. The game is simple in conception and execution, with an easy-to-understand design. You can look at the level and instantly see which objects are going to do what. The gravity of the tilt is responsive enough to allow fairly accurate control over your little Rolandos, and as a result you will find yourself gradually mastering your navigation of each of the levels. It comes complete with a bunch of useful stuff like time-trials and an autosave which saves after you press the quit button, so you can quit straight out of the game to check your email and your progress wont be lost. It also comes with a soundtrack by Mr Scruff, who is a bit of a legend. I own 2 of his albums. He is good.

Facebook + Live Poker

The facebook app is fairly self explanatory. It works. You can go on facebook. *yawn* old news. The Live Poker app works well because you can link it to your facebook account and jump into games with your facebook friends who are playing on their computers. It is quick, responsive, nifty - easy to use and navigate. I'm very impressed, I have been using this app more than any other. I have also exchanged my soul for the deluxe edition which gets me 1000 bonus chips every day. I'm sorry, I couldn't help myself...

Limechat

This is a cool little IRC app that I have been using to chat to my Giantbomb peeps whilst away in London. I had to pay for it, but it turned out to be worth it because its really sharp and easy to use. All I had to do was install it, go to the giantbomb forums and click the link and it automatically set up the channel for me on my iPod. I was fairly lucky in my choice because there are a whole bunch of different IRC apps available, but this one does everything I need so that's cool. The only problem is it doesn't have tilt support so I cant twist it horizontal to type. The vertical keyboard can be a little annoying as the buttons aren't spaced far apart. Maybe I just have chunky toned fingers from playing all that Gears 2... who knows?


She's a keeper!! So yeah, I guess I should write about Prince of Persia but that can wait for my next blog. Besides, more interesting stuff has been happening. What stuff? Why, New Years Eve of course.
I headed down to London to meet with a few of my mates from BACK IN THE DAY and we all went out to SeOne which is a fat club by London Bridge tube station. We got there at 10pm(??) and got completely fucked on Kobra's. Drugs were taken. Dont worry kids, I stayed clean because i'm a scrub. We got back at 7am(??) and I went to sleep - woke up at 5pm (it was already dark) and everyone else was still awake from the night before. That's MDMA for ya... SO we sparked up, ordered pizzas, and spent the whole day inside playing SEGA Bass Fishing on the Wii. What a way to start 2009...
