I think the video content here on giantbomb is waaaay more entertaining than any of the other dehumanising generic videogame themed sites on the web. As the Endurance Run is now finished and Ryan has apparently overstretched his patience with This Ain't No Game - we suddenly have two slots for new stuff. And let me tell you, I need this. I built a routine around the fucking endurance run, and now I have an hour free every day where I just sit and stare at a blank wall.
My sanity aside, I thought I would take this opportunity to put forward some suggestions for new video feature's on giantbomb.
Snide Play's MMOs
The thing is, you can't really take a quick look at an MMO. For the most part, they are just too damn big. I'm not asking for an Aion Online endurance run here, but maybe some weekly updates as to how Dave is progressing would be awesome. MMOs can vary enormously from start to finish - seeing some actual progression would be a lot more helpful to potential buyers. He could even invite in a different member of the Giantbomb staff to ride shotgun each week. I think we all agree, Snide needs more air-time. Also Coonce.Retro Quick Looks
Ok I have wanted this for a while now. The team did a bunch of stuff for the Dreamcast anniversary, but I think they could take it further.
Considering every console currently has an online store where you can buy retro/last-gen games, it's also very relevant - both because new time players will want to know what all the fuss is about, and because veterans will want to see how the game holds up. This would actually be the most awesome thing giantbomb could do - for example, Psychonauts is currently available on XBL Marketplace. I never got a chance to play Psychonauts. I don't even know what it looks like. I'm not going to get some nostalgia fix from playing it - so an up to date quick look would be amazing, considering how awesome everyone keeps telling me it is. This is a corner of the market I feel is completely untapped - these games are being released at a steady rate, and while I don't expect a constant update of old reviews, it's kind of contextual if that game is being released as an "Xbox Original" or whatever your console equivalent is. Also, there are games on the Wii virtual console which pre-date video reviews. Think about it. Doofy Crap
Videos of Jeff grimacing through a single shot of gin are fucking priceless, and the gif's that were created as a result were well worth his physical discomfort. Speaking of drinks, what happened to reviewing drinks at the start of the bombcast? That was awesome, it made the podcast quirky and original - BRING THAT SHIT BACK, YO!!Ok i'm going to stop there because it gets to a point where it just becomes a list of me bitching, instead of a useful list of ideas which would be worth a shot.
Anyone else got any ideas for some new giantbomb video stuff-tings?
