My Persona 3 FES Endurance Run (Part 6)

 Yesterday's session GO!

So, yesterday we played about four more hours of Persona 3 FES, and it was probably the most entertaining four hours yet. We have now played a full day of this game. Today was the first day I've had one of the songs stuck in my head. "I never felt like, doo doo doo doo doo." That music plays whenever you're in town, and a slow version plays when you're int stores. They have so many songs for parts that are five minutes long, but whenever you are not in your dorm or in school, this is all you'll hear pretty much. It's a good thing it's awesome.

Today, we didn't get much S Linking done. We hung out with the Gourmet King a couple times, but he's still NOT THAT INTERESTING. Guess what? He still likes food. And now he's jealous of us for being skinny. Awesome. We didn't see Yuko at all, which is probably because she's studying. Oh, by the way,  exams are next week. Maybe you should study. 


We did have another full moon event though. We had/got to go to the red light district of town, to find one of the big crazy shadows. we went up three floors, beat it, and said, "Damn! That was easy." Turns out, it was too easy. We then found ourselves on a bed. ANIME CUTSCENE GO. It's a girl in a shower. It's Yukari in the shower! Levi (the Jeff of this ER) started getting excited. Cut to us on a bed again, waiting for her to come out. A voice comes in our head saying, "BONE HER BONE HER BONE HER DO IT." This is when Levi (with all his JRPG experience) realized that IT'S A TRAP. We had to choose the dialog choices that made our inner voice stop being such a horny jerk, and Yukari realized too that we were being controlled by a shadow! Apparently, the one we killed wasn't the real one or something. We had to break some mirrors, and then go up and fight it again! It was still easy. Oh well.

Then, exposition happened. Actually, it may have been before, I can't remember. It turns out Mitsuru's grandfather started conducted an experiment that was trying to control the power of the Shadows for TIME TRAVEL. Yukari was getting all pissy, which was foreshadowing for the fact that it was her dad who was the lead researcher. Oops, that's revealed later. Sorry.

I'd just like to mention that parental issues are a common theme. Our favourite seven-year old girl has divorced parents, out parents are dead, Mitsuru's doesn't like talking with her dad, Yukari's dad is dead, Creepy mysterious boy's parents are dead (He might be us though), Akihiko and his buddy are orphans; It seems like everyone's parents either suck or are dead!

So, exams happened. Levi had his iPhone so it was pretty damn easy. But, apparently we hadn't studied enough, because our character seemed to have a bit of trouble with the last question.

We were then all invited to go on a trip to Mitsuru's dad's crazy resort home in Yakushima, where it's nice and beachy. We had one day to go to Tartarus before we left, so we managed to make it to the mid-boss. Mitsuru is starting to get annoying now though. She won't stop casting Marin Karin (a charm spell). She has Mabufu, and Bufu, but she is content trying to charm EVERYONE. It was frustrating as all hell, until she managed to charm one of the Hulk Hogan mid-bosses, making it attack one of the others for about 170 damage.

Beach Time! So, at the crazy beach house place, we got to meet Mitsuru's dad! He is a sweet dude. He has an eyepatch and talks all gruff. He's the one who revealed to us that Yukari's dad was the man at fault for exploding half the school, and killing a bunch of dudes in the process. Yukari got all sad, and we had to go comfort her. I could swear that this would be our S Link time, but no. We did hug her though, in the one-sided Persona 4-style way. Then Junpei came and it got all awkward.

The next day, we saw a cut-scene where the girls were all told that a machine had escaped the Chairman's secret lab on the island (why does he have that?) and they should find it. Junpei, Akihiki, and us weren't aware, so we just went around trying to pick up chicks. This is probably my favourite part of the game so far. We got rejected twice, and then the third girl we tried turned out to be a man, in probably the best twist of the game. Then we saw robot-lady. You know, that girl on the cover, instruction manual, and back of the box we haven't seen in our whole twenty hours of playing? Yeah, that one. Of course, our character didn't know that, so we had to try to hit on her. She was all like, "AFFIRMATIVE" and told us that we were the one she was searching for. Then she ran away. We caught her and Chairman ended up telling us that she is a crazy robot-lady.

So, we went back to our dorm, and woke up the next morning to her standing over our bed being creepy. Yukari came in and kicked her out, and then we saved.

Overall, it was a great time! It really got me re-interested in the game after some of the more frustrating battle sequences we've been having lately. Next time, we hope to get Yuko to 10, and then get our Charm high enough to hang with Yukari!
