Data Porn - Modern Warfare 3: Fuck Yeah Edition

Hello there, I've had a crazy couple of days on the internet. Have I made any money? No. Is my name the talk of the town? No. But my e-penis is larger than ever after I made a "Modern Warfare - Fuck Yeah Edition". A video that took me the least amount of time to actually make is the biggest success I've ever had on youtube... so I might be doing more of that soon (sorry to people that love the Best Of videos... you're in the smaller demographic now... but I'll still make them whenever I have enough material). Currently, the video is slowing down to a hault at around 100,000 views... in comparison, that fucking stupid "This Is Whiskey Media" video that's featured on the front page only has 7,000 hits (seriously, can a member of the community get some love?). Thanks to everybody for the support and positive feedback on all my stupid bullshit. And most of all, I'd like to thank my new best friend, Cliffy B for helping to spread the video.

So, with all of that being said, here's all the stats on the video... it might be interesting for those who are trying to make videos of their own and see where the traffic can potentially come from.
Unless if you're some kind of voo-doo wizard.... you need to milk your video for all it's worth early on. Entertainment over the internet has an extremely slow life-span, so I give credit to the newness of the Call of Duty teaser for making my video popular. I don't expect any other kind of spike... I'm waiting for E3 to come and see what they show-off there, maybe the video will take on new life, or I might follow-up with another video... or they might actually show off something good and I'll back down... who knows.

I fucking love reddit.com. I submitted my video there a little while after I made my initial blog over at Giant Bomb. I sent it into Reddit at 11:00 PM eastern... watched it claw its way to the front page before I went to sleep... woke up and saw it at #3 on /r/gaming on reddit... then I guess Cliffy B saw it from there and posted it to his twitter. It was interesting to search for my own video on twitter and see Cliffy B spread it, then game journalists, then it made its way through the developers at DICE who was openly mocking CoD with this video. It was really cool to read that one of my fellow Epic PM members(arab_prince) say that he saw his friend posted it onto his facebook account.
I still can't find the article from g4tv.com that posted the embedded version of the video, but that contributed a chunk of people. In my Giant Bomb blog, the views for the forum post was 1,000+, and only about 725 actually bothered to watch the video(jerks). I sent my video into Kotaku because they love to put stupid shit on their frontpage, but they never went through with it. I'd assume a huge chunk of traffic would have came from there if they did. The Escapist(a website I adore) was very early in featuring my video, so kudos to them.

So I guess what I've learned from this is that it's fine to make a video highlighting certain things that you enjoyed. I still go back and watch all of my "Best Of Giant Bomb" videos once a month because they are insanely entertaining to me. It's really hard to actually create something 100% by yourself and find any kind of success on YouTube (trust me, I've tried)... but maybe the true quality for me personally could be found with a mix of the two...

... who knows what I'm saying at this point, but I've got a couple of decent ideas in my head for the future... but for now, here's a video response to my video that I truly love
