The Oscars I didn't watch the first 3/4 of it because I saw Alice in Wonderland at a very specific time.. let's just say I didn't care to see the undercard of the oscars. There were not real surprises that I missed, Christoph Waltz wins for his amazing performance as Hans Landa, Monique wins, Avatar won a bunch of crap for it's visual accomplishments, Up wins best animated/original score, Crazy...
The Oscars
I didn't watch the first 3/4 of it because I saw Alice in Wonderland at a very specific time.. let's just say I didn't care to see the undercard of the oscars. There were not real surprises that I missed, Christoph Waltz wins for his amazing performance as Hans Landa, Monique wins, Avatar won a bunch of crap for it's visual accomplishments, Up wins best animated/original score, Crazy Heart won for best song. The only true snub was Hurt Locker winning best original screenplay over Inglorious Basterds. I'm not saying that Inglorious Basterds was far superior as a movie(I believe they're neck and neck), but Hurt Locker did not have a script. Hurt Locker was just a movie with one real character in its focus and putting that character through a handful of scenarios, where as Quentin made this whole universe filled with memorable characters and scenes.
Later awards included no real surprises either. The Dude wins an oscar(finally), and Sandra Bullock won her last oscar. Hurt Locker received best Director and Picture of the year. So, no real surprise there, all deserving movies were rewarded(DO YA SEE THAT, GRAMMY'S!)
Alice In Wonderland
Tim Burton has lost his touch. I think I came in to this movie with too high of hopes, but after seeing an incredible kids story remake last year with Spike Jonze's "Where The Wild Things Are", I thought Alice had a shot at being great. Johnny Depp has officially lost all of his credibility. Burton hasn't made anything worth while since Big Fish... oh well.
