Much against my better judgement, one of the games I decided to pick up in the Steam summer sale was Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth 1 . This poor life choice stemmed from a discussion amongst myself and my fellow moderators and I'm not going to go into the boring details. Long story short, it's all @mb 's fault. And @zombiepie 's fault. Despite the "ANIME ANIME ANIME!!!! ANIME!!!!" art style...

Eurogamer Expo (or EGX) was two weeks ago and I had intended on writing a big proper blog about the show shortly after. Then I got distracted. I've just sorted through the photos I took at the show and deleted the really terrible ones (although they were all taken on my phone, so don't expect great quality from any of them), so I'm just going to post those and random thoughts that go along with...

Warning: This blog contains Mass Effect 3 spoilers. Ever since finally finishing (and blogging about ) Mass Effect 1 and 2 a couple of months ago, I’ve been eager to jump into Mass Effect 3. I absolutely love the Mass Effect universe, and I was keen to see how Commander Shepard’s fight against the Reapers ended. I’d managed to, more or less, stay away from major spoilers about the ending and, d...

Note: This blog contains Mass Effect 2 spoilers, along with spoilers from the first two Mass Effect novels, Revelation and Ascension. So last time I blogged was almost 4 weeks ago. I’d finally played Mass Effect to completion a mere 4 years after first playing it. The next day I went into my local city centre in an attempt to buy a copy of Mass Effect 2 and a copy of the first Mass Effect book,...

So, I fucked a blue chick I've blogged before about how terrible I am at finishing lengthy games. The last reasonably long game I beat was Fable II. And before that I can't even remember the last time I beat a game longer than 15 hours long. I always seem to put the game down for a break when the mechanics get repetitive and then I just never pick it up again. Or in the case of Mass Effect I pi...

So hey duders, I'm rather drunk, and I have a few things I want to say. Firstly, I'm not quite as drunk as I was when I did the first one of these, and the typo in the title is 100% intentional this time. And I'm not attaching this to the forum this timebecause the last time did that @MB stickied the thread to the forum and it was super embarrasing. But I have a feww thigs i want to talk about,...

So I've never played a visual novel before. I never really saw the appeal. It seems weird calling them games at all. In reality you're reading a story and occasionally making choices which affect the story in different ways. In principle it doesn't sound bad, but especially with dating sims they just didn't really take my fancy. But I recently, after much convincing from Swoxx on the Giant Bomb...

I started writing a brief Google+ post about my experiences with Oblivion, and it ended up being far longer than I intended so I decided to turn it into a full blog post. I've been playing Oblivion for a short while because I can't afford, nor will my computer likely run Skyrim. I tried to play it once before when it was relatively new but found the first person view in an open world environmen...

As part of Sweep's Blog Initiative I thought I would try something a little different. A blog in a style that I don't normally write. It's a parody in the style of a press release. I'm not used to this style of writing so it's probably going to be terrible. Feel free to tell me that . It's also very possibly libelous, so if you don't hear anything from me for a while, I've probably been arreste...

Note: I wrote this for the cancelled issue 5 of The Luchazine back when that was a thing. It's been sitting in a folder on my computer since then. With Sweep 's new blog initiative , this seems like a great time to throw it up. There are a couple of other things I wrote for the Luchazine that never made it into the 'zine that I may throw up at some point, but they're pretty out of date now and...

Exhibit A: One of the many games I enjoyed, but have been unable to complete It's not much of a secret that I am terrible at beating games. I wouldn't say I have a short attention span, but longer games usually get somewhat formulaic and repetitive, so I'll stop playing for a while and play something else. That new game quickly becomes my main focus and I forget the former game even exists. Cas...

UPDATE 2: Heard back. I was unsucessfull. I'm absolutely gutted. UPDATE: Had the interview yesterday. I think it went well. I don't want to get my hopes up though. I should hear if I got the job today. Hey guys. I normally don't like to talk about my personal life on Giant Bomb, but I want some advice and I thought I might as well give you guys a shot. So there is this girl I like... OK, that w...

So I'm sitting here watching the Champion's League final between Barcelona and Manchester Utd. It's the biggest club football match in Europe and millions of people tune in to watch it on TV. The half-time whistle blows and the inevitable irony occurs when the presenter says "It's been an action packed half and we have plenty of stuff to talk about with our pundits. So instead of talking about...

So in a random PM reporting a thread that needed to be locked, a war has erupted between the British mods and the American mods over the word "revision" and the differences between British English and the dumb American English in general. I thought that I'd create a blog on it for two reasons. Firstly, I'm sure some of the community may be interested in the argument, and secondly, so we can sto...

You may or may not know this, but there is a small section of the Giant Bomb community who have formspring.me pages. Formspring is a social networking type thing which allows you to ask people random questions. Think of it as twitter, but solely for asking & answering questions, and without an annoying character limit. Both myself and ZombiePie have formspring accounts. Yesterday I decided to a...

Welcome to the first in a series of blogs I call "Better Late Than Never" in which I will document my playthrough of a game that so many Giant Bombers hold close to their heart - Persona 4. Prior to the Endurance Run I had very little knowledge of the Persona series, yet the Endurance Run had intrigued me, and after watching about a dozen or so episodes, I had decided I wanted to play it for my...

Heys duders.it's st patrocks day and ive had a lot of guinness. I think im at the stage where: I can talk and type legibly I am tallkign bullshite but if this is complete crap and is undreadable, then i am sorry. Anyways, here are a few random thoughts that pop into the head of t adrunk person: Why did i drink this much? hOW MUCH DID i DRINK? hOW DID i ACCIDENTALLY PRESS TH ECAPS LOCK KEY? why,...

This is a true story!!!! Once upon a time on a fine November evening, a bear with a green hat and red bow tie is taking a gentle stroll through the Giant Bomb Forums. He is stopping to converse with people. Talking about his favourite video games with some random humour mixed in. Suddenly out of no where, he spots a forum thread titled "is that time again, GB". He is intrigued by such a vague p...

I am addicted to buying downloadable games off steam. I have 130 games on steam, and over half of those I haven't even installed, let alone played. I really need to resist the urge to buy games, and actually play them for a change. Yet when the next steam weekend deal comes along, and it's a game that looks decent, I'll buy it. And I probably won't play it, at least for a while. I need therapy....

Hello and welcome to MattyFTM's soon to be world famous Wiki Points Report. I've decided to do a semi-regular blog detailing what I've been doing to edit the site recently, and gained wiki points from. I'm hoping it may inspire new people to get involved in the wiki part of the site and/or be interesting for current wiki editors to see what I've been up to. Or failing those, It's a way to waste...

La la la la, La la la la, La la la la la la, La la la la!!!!!!!!! I'm celebrating today, because my football (soccer to you weird Americans) team, Sunderland, have avoided relegation from the English Premier League and both of our local rivals, Newcastle and Middlesbrough have been relegated. It's extremely hilarious. It's fantastic. Words can't describe how happy I am. I've been in the pub sin...

Having seen a tonne of people on GB blogging their top 30 games of all time left me with the strange compulsion to write my own, despite knowing that I'd never be able to settle on 30 games, and I'd never be able to settle on an order. So, after weeks of slaving over this list, trying to remember all the games I've loved, and trying to decide where on the list they go, I think I have the final...

I think the reason that people are so willing to shell out $60 for a game, is because they know they can sell it on later to get some money back. If they couldn't do this, I doubt people would buy as many games at full price. While yes, publishers are losing some revenue from people not buying games new, they are gaining revenue from people buying games new, knowing they can get some of the mon...

I find that the majority of funny games are less actiony, because you can't really be cracking up with laughter when you need to be focusing on playing a game. And thus, often the funniest games are point & click adventures. And while this is a genre that I'm not too experienced in, I have played the monkey island series, which is absolutely hilarious. I've just recently started playing explori...

Back when Giant Bomb’s game of the year plans were unclear, there was a lot of suggestions and speculations about what the Giant Bomb crew should do for their Game of the Year awards. I proclaimed that real years were so last year, and that the GB crew should work in Giant Bomb years, and do their GOTY awards in March, on the one year anniversary of the launch of the Giant Bomb blog site. Well,...

The iPhone. The shiny, beautiful device has always mocked me, laughing at how I couldn't afford one. Until last week I acquired some money (it isn't as dodgy as it sounds... honest) and decided to go out and make a purchase that would change my life forever!!! OK, I might be exaggerating a little, but either way - I've got an iPhone WOOOHOOOO!!!! So, what do you think think of your new iPhone,...

The majority of DLC isn't enough to bring me back to a game I've already stopped playing, so I rarely buy it. The Burnout paradise DLC is a good example of why I don't buy DLC. I downloaded the Burnout DLC, played it for 10 minutes, proclaimed "That was cool", and haven't played it since. I did plan on buying the CoD 4 map pack when it was half price for a weekend, but I didn't have any MS poin...

With the giant bomb staffers missing out this weeks Friday Bomb Drop (presumably they're all busy with thanksgivingy stuff), I thought I'd do one myself, but since it's Saturday, this demands a whole new original name. The Saturday Bomb Drop is here!!!!! With Brad, Vinny and Ryan all missing this week's Bombcast , Giant Bomb's coding genius Dave Snider and Harmonix's Alex Navarro join Jeff to t...

I'm sure everyone is in a similar boat with the huge number of games that have hit the shelves in the past month or so, but I just actually looked at the games I've bought recently and it's crazy, so I thought I'd summarize the my gaming situation right now, a short overview of my feelings of the games, FIFA 09 FIFA 09 It was lucky that FIFA 09 came out before most of the holiday season's big r...

Nah, I've allways found midnight launches pretty pointless. You go to the midnight launch, get the game, play it for an hour or 2, go to bed, sleep through till midday because you were up untill the 3 or 4 in the morning, and then play it again until the end of the day. I prefer to get to the store bright and early at about 9 o'clock, buy the game and then play right through from then. It just...

As much as I loved Kari Wuhrer as the wonderful Tanya in Command & Conquer Red Alert 2, I'm sure Jenny McCarthy will do the job just as well. We all know that right from the original C&C the casting for the FMV sequences has been spot on, and if anything it has only got better with time. I have confidence that the casting people wouldn't pick someone unless she was perfect for the role.

After doing a bunch of edits yesterday I was really hoping to reach the magic 1000 when I logged on today, so I can start doing a bunch of smaller edits that I don't really want to bother the mods with. I come on to find I'm just 40 away. Its so frustrating. Although I think I'm going to upload a load of images, that should get me there in no time at all since image moderations are going throug...

So, Giant Bomb launched on Monday without adverts of any description. Many people have been asking, how do these guys plan on making money? The common answer has been that it is only a beta, advertisements will probably be implemented in the future, but I ask, what if advertisements are already on the site, just in secret? The hamburger page has exploded into popularity like no other. A totally...

Yay, Giant Bomb is here. I'm loving it. Its awesome. I love the semi-wiki style of it. I'm looking forward to doing some editing once I can be bothered.
