Backlog 365: Day 21 - Racer 8
by phishyphishy
For Backlog 365 I plan on playing one game on my backlog everyday this year and write about it. For each game I will decide if I want to put it on my "Shelved" list (games that I plan to come back to and play in depth) or put it on the "Retired" list (games that I will delete or sell and move on with my life). Racer 8 annoyed me. I actually like the concept. It's the pipe puzzle concept, where you flip tiles, but with rally cars. Beyond the basic idea, Racer 8 is bad. From the menus to the game play there are just so many annoying things. To close out of a menu (such as high scores) you have to hit the same icon that opened the menu, until I figured this out I thought that the game was crashing. The tiles in the game are poorly designed, it is sometimes hard to tell what direction the track is going. There is so little variation in the game. Yada, yada... It's not good. But the cardinal sin of Racer 8 is that it is a free-to-play game selling for $5 on steam. I know I got it in some bundle, because I would never have purchased this garbage.
I was going to write more about why Racer 8 annoyed me, but it's just not worth my time. I'm going to go play with my baby.
Judgment: Retired
