I must say- I am a little woried about writing a review for this game. Where should I begin ? The great graphics ?- A technological breakthrough for console gaming ? Full 3d in battles and world map ? The sound ?- Incredible music, that you will remember for years to come (J-E-N-O-V-A or Aeris theme) ? Great battle mechanics, that let you customize your hero ?- Materia system ? Or.. yes... The story. That's the highlight. That's the reason everyone loves this part. It's a unique world, with mystical esence known as lifestream- threatend by a giant meteor heading straight for the planet. But what is a story without great characters ? Cloud may not be the greatest of all protagonists- but he is a complicated fellow, who had a hard life- and thruought the game he learns much about himself. And we know that good main characters are hard to come by (cough*Tidus*cough). Aeris- who could forget her ? Who would want to. You know why she is famous, but that would be telling. Tifa, Barret, Vincent, Cid, Red XII, Yuffie- even Cait Sith, they all had something in them- but the one that steals the spotlight is none other than Sephiroth. Yes, the whole game is about defeating him. He is a legend- not only there, but as you progress, he becomes the legend also for you. Defeating him is one of the best moments in the gaming history. I am talking about the limit break ending, you just don't forget these kind of things. The only bad side of this game is the 3d characters that (except for the battle) look like weird anvil-handed monsters. But you will get used to that.
So even after all this years, I play Final Fantasy, and I enjoy it. I try to play FFIX- no luck. Try to fight to the end of VII, but I fail miserably. But when I start Final Fantasy VII- I enjoy it. Time didn't destroy this great peace of software. It does not make me angry or bored. It makes me want to play to the end, and get that bastard, killing some weapons on the side. So go- if you haven't already. Go and enjoy some of the best gaming has to offer.
