Lately I have been saying that the Uncharted series is the best PS3 franchise. I was reminded recently how good the first one was and now, as I play again through the second, the feeling is just confirmed. Uncharted is the best PlayStation 3 franchise. Period. This game improves upon the original game in every way making it one of the best action-packed gaming experiences you will find and though it is not perfect, it is darn near close.
Among Thieves sees Drake return to go on another treasure hunting expedition. This time he follows Marco Polo and the quest for Shambhala. As is custom for Drakes adventures, things do not go as planned when an evil war criminal shows up also seeking access to Shambhala for evil deeds. For what it's worth, the story is much better this time around then the first Uncharted, so if that one impressed you, perhaps you had better sit down for this one.
But enough about story, what really is the draw are the non-stop, balls-out action sequences It starts out so fantastic and only get better as you go along. You will be placed in just insane scenarios such as facing down a helicopter, a tank, and what seem like endless soldiers. Along with that you have some crazy run and gun elements that even while being easy to pass, are just freakin' awesome to play through. It would be hard to play this game without a goofy grin on your face.
There are of course a few short-comings. After all I did mention the game is not perfect. And there will be moments that just frustrate the hell out of you. Not to mention the game's questionable ending choices. Let’s just say it resembles the last game in terms of the way things go. But even the few technical hiccups and story ending are not going to take away from your enjoyment of this title. It is just that good.
With such a strong showing on the second time at bat, Naughty Dog is going to have a hell of a time topping this one. Even though this is the second time I have played through Uncharted 2, I still enjoyed my time immensely and if the third stays true to the formula, I am sure I will not be disappointed. Oh, and there is multiplayer too. I hear that is pretty good stuff as well.
