What can I say about Dead Space apart from the fact that it is one of the best games I've played, maybe in my life!
Not many games or movies can give me chills like Dead Space can and for this reason alone the game just keeps me hooked. However to go more into detail.. I used to believe EA was good for nothing else but their sports franchises, madden.. madden.. oh and I guess there was some other games... but anyway I had been following Dead Space for some time when I realized this game was looking like it had the potential of being good, not great, but good. Boy was I suprised when it came out...
After picking up my pre-order of the game, I was given an art book, something quite rare that I had never seen before in all my gaming days.. So before even playing the game I sat down and went through all the magnificent artwork these guys had produced, it was clear that Visceral Games and EA had put ALOT of time and effort into what to me, is some of the best sci-fi horror to date, this includes movies as well.
I took the disc out of the box, didn't bother to read the manual of course, booted up my Box, and from the begining to the end I was hooked. Not only were the graphics freakin' amazing, but the sound, the gameplay, the action, everything just fit! I was hooked not just for those reasons though, I was hooked because the game scared me, I was actualy scared for the first time in my life while playing a horror game.. You can talk about Resident Evil or Silent Hill all you want, but to me, the definition of a great horror game, is Dead Space.
Now I could start giving out scores for all the various attributes & all, but I'm not going to because this game deserves your attention, if your any kind of gamer, you owe it to yourself as one to play this amazing piece of gaming epicness.
Perhaps the only bad thing I can say about this game is, it didn't come out sooner to define how horror games should be made.
