Team Factor is a multiplayer based first-person shooter that was released back in 2002 when PC multiplayer shooters were on top of their game. This was back before console online play took off and games like Counter-Strike, Battlefield 1942 and Unreal Tournament were ruling the roost. In North America, the game is actually known as US Special Forces: Team Factor but it doesn't matter what it is called, this game is atrocious in everyway. The gameplay is busted, the graphical performance is shocking and finding a match online is impossible because no one likes this piece of dung.
As the name would suggest, Team Factor is a team-based multiplayer mode and three teams get to square off with one another and depending on the map, teams will have to eliminate the opposing teams, hack computer terminals or capture flags to win a match. The player has a total of 4 classes to pick from to try and cater to the team aspect some more. The classes on display are nothing original but they cover all of the bases; a sniper, a soldier, a scout and a heavy-weapons guy. Along with these four classes, the game boasts a very high weapon count with nearly 50 weapons in the game to fire but the biggest problem I had with Team Factor was that the shooting was extremely frustrating for many reasons. First of all, a lot of these weapons try to be realistic trying to encourage you to use single or burst rates of fire and encouraging you to stand still while shooting but I still had a hard time trying to hit anyone. But what made matters even worse was that when I did hit someone at a distance, there was no clear indication that he had been hit. There is a bit of blood when you are closer up but this isn't really the time of action Team Factor is going for here, the game wants to have big maps that aren't as big as Battlefield but are certainly bigger than what Counter-Strike or Call of Duty offer. Speaking of maps there are over 20 to choose from and there is actually plenty of variety which is one of the nice things I can say about Team Factor. You will battle it out in different woodland and desert environments which is good but none of this really matters because since the basics of this game are so badly done, you will probably see about 2 of the 22 maps and never play the game again.
Team Factor is a multiplayer shooter at heart and as a result, there is no single-player campaign or anything along those lines, the closest thing you can get is the option to play with computer controlled bots but these bots are horrendously bad. They just straight up don't play like real anything like real humans and it only ruins the experience even more. Of course you are probably wondering if this game has online play and yes, of course it does but that is made obsolete as the game has absolutely no community whatsoever. No surprising but still another reason to avoid this horrible game.
The graphics are possibly one of the more shocking things about Team Factor. Even for the time, the game looked very dated looking like something from the late 90s with shoddy texture work, abysmal animations and a ridiculously bad framerate. My computer is modern and can play recent games but this game is still choppy and it is just an awful experience playing a game that looks this bad and runs this bad. The sound isn't much better. There isn't much to the sound design at all actually aside from the noise of gunfire which doesn't even sound that great or realistic, sounds worthy of being in an old DOS game.
Overall, this game is an absolute disgrace. There is no reason to play Team Factor nevermind buy Team Factor. The gameplay is horrible, the graphics and sound fell from a time machine and no one plays it online. Don't buy this game.
