I actually looked forward to this game the first time I saw the trailer some 3-4 years ago, now that its out I'm disappointed

Story: could of been so much better, there was so many holes and the pacing was so off. Poor kid gets white knight and is set on a mission to save the princess thats about it and they still managed to mess it up with bad pacing and random surprises

Gameplay: Think FF12 but slower, FF12 lets the character you control go automatic, in this your force to put in the commands for them or they stand around doing nothing. There is alot of customization in this game, you can make anyone into anything. You are in a party of 3 and before the game starts you get to make your own character so you can do online quest with a friend but the game didn't hold my attention long enough for me to care for that.

Visual/Sound: I turned off voice acting from beginning to end, just reading the first couple of dialog was enough for me to know I made the right decision, Its to bad the voice acting goes with the sound effect as well. Visually the game is decent but thats because I'm comparing it to a year ago when it was officially released in japan. The game has so many useless movements within the cut scenes. The characters over react to every little thing. The CG is pretty and the knights a nicely designed but those are the only saving grace.

Characters: JRPG, JRPG characters. The main character is a kid who falls in love with the princess after meeting her once..love at first sight thing. Hes dumb, clueless and polite. The girl sidekick is bossy, dumb in the beginning of the game someone says he(main character) has the white knight, hes the only one that can save the princess" and she jumps out and says why him. Old mysterious man, a playboy, warrior chick all the typical characters. Oh and the character you created in the beginning which doesn't do anything, its just there for you to feel attached to the game

FF12 help bring fully customizable characters to the JRPG world. Level 5 tried to keep it going and in some sense succeeded, The JRPG genre has along way to go. I grew up with it I loved the old ones back in the playstation and early PS2 era, but now all the main characters are sissies.
