This isn't Quake

Quake 4 is such a disappointment. Its not just because the game breaks away from what I’d consider core to the Quake gameplay experience - its a slower game and one that attempts to introduced forced vehicle sections as there’s technical hiccups are present throughout. From a terrible framerate to progress, halting game breaking bugs it is not a Quake game or one I’d consider worthy of the name.

The first three Quake games were a technical marvel combined with genre defining gameplay. Attempting to follow up on such a legacy was a big ask of developer Raven Software but as previously stated the true failure of their attempt is the failure to meet the core expectations of a Quake game. A technical masterpiece with fast paced, fun and enjoyable action. Instead its a slower paced game with lacklustre combat thats a technical mess. This is the true failure of Raven Software’s attempt to make the next instalment in the Quake series. Its lacking what makes a Quake game, a Quake game and instead is a lacklustre first person shooter that fails to meet the legacy of the previous games in the franchise.
