Super Castlevania IV came out on the SNES in 1991 by Konami. It's a remake of the 1987 original for the NES. They are about Simon Belmont breaking into Dracula's castle. The first game is a classic and one of the hardest games of all time. Is Castlevania IV as good or just another cheap cash in? Let's find out.
I never had a SNES when I was a kid, but I did have a Sega Genesis with Castlevania: Bloodlines. I heard Castlevania IV was even better for SNES. So I bought a SNES with Castlevania IV at my local used game store. After setting it up to my old CRT TV I turned it on and the first thing I noticed was the amazing music and atmosphere. The game tells a great story by only graphics and level progression.
Simon's main weapon is a whip that is up-gradable. The combat is much easier in this one because you can attack in all eight directions. Konami even made the secondary weapons better by putting them on the R button instead of pushing up and attack at the same time. Jumping in the first game was very stiff but in the fourth one it's more like Mario where you can control Simon in the air. You can also swing on the whip like Spider-Man which is awesome.
Nintendo's Mode 7 chip makes Stage 4 rotate. It really makes you feel dizzy. The game starts easy then gets really hard about half way through. I wish more games did this instead of random easy and hard sections. Even though it doesn't have a save battery it does have a great simple password system. The game is beatable once you learn the pattern. It's not bullshit hard like Mega-Man.
This is one of the best games ever made. If you have a Super Nintendo you should play it. In my opinion I think this is even better than the first game and Bloodlines.Thanks for reading and have a good day.
