A shooter worthy of your time

Battlefield: Bad Company has set a new standard in environment interactivity. The destructible environment is much more than a gimmick. This dynamic truly defines this game, separating it from the many shooters available today. With almost every building wall destructible, you can create your own paths, or set up strategic flanking maneuvers. Not only is the destructibility amazing on a game play level, but also visually. These explosions look good. Real good. Another neat twist is the unlimited heal. At first it may seem a little lame to be able to heal yourself whenever you'd like, but I think it only helps in creating the fast paced, always on the move kind of game that is BFBC.
Of course like every game out there, BFBC has its low points. Perhaps its lowest is the godly AI. These guys can see through walls, and always know exactly where you will pop your head out. This really does detract from the game a bit. Also a little lame is the respawn system. I mean the actual idea of respawn in single player is cool, but not when you are brought back to life with no way of defeated a tank or chopper.
In the end, I hope BFBC has caught the eye of other developers. I hope future games adopt and expand on this "blow crap up" mentality. If you are looking for a solid shooter, looker no further than BFBC. Crank up the sound, prepare to laugh, and don't forget to check out a mutliplayer component that is truly worthy of your time.
