Top 35 Games of 2010 (not finished)

by drforrester57

This year in games was a river that ran shallow, but wide.  There wasn't one game that grabbed me by the balls, but there was a ton of very good games.  Hence, my top 35 list.

Showing 1-10 of 30 items

Limbo

1. Limbo

Whenever I played Limbo it had my complete attention. For some reason I could only play a little bit at a time. Also, the "Lord of the Flies" part really creeped me out.

Angry Birds

2. Angry Birds

This dinky little game has probably sucked away more of my productivity than any 50 hour RPG I've ever played. I know it was out on iPhone earlier, but it wasn't released on Android until '10.

Halo: Reach

3. Halo: Reach

Aside from the lack of a kick ass vehicle sequence at the end, this is the best Halo game (single & multi player) ever.

Super Meat Boy

4. Super Meat Boy

At last count I died over 1,600 times. I truly feel this exercise has made me better at video games.

Heavy Rain

5. Heavy Rain

I know the story was flat, but I really think this is the direction video games need to go. Not the quick time events, but the way it treated the player as an adult.

Super Mario Galaxy 2

6. Super Mario Galaxy 2

It was even more distilled than the first game. The levels were short, difficult and awesome.

FIFA 11

7. FIFA 11

I'm coming around to the notion that this doesn't play as well as '10, but it's still the go to game after a few beverages.

Professor Layton and the Unwound Future

8. Professor Layton and the Unwound Future

Either I'm getting smarter or the puzzles are getting easier (probably the latter). I had to go online to find answers to a lot less puzzles than last year's edition. This series makes me want to play adventure games, but when I play actually play adventure games I realize that I hate them.

Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood

9. Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood

I almost quit playing after the first memory sequence (the banter was that bad), though once I got to Italy for reals I was totally hooked.

Joe Danger

10. Joe Danger

If it wasn't for the drastically steep difficulty level towards the end, this could have been game of the year.
