Lists are back and so am I! This is an on-going list of every game I played in 2026 (for at least an hour or so). The list is written over the course of a year, so any breaks in time are denoted with dashes between paragraphs. I didn't start this list until about September of 2026, so I'm relying on my own personal notes, steam playtimes, and a bluesky list I started keeping.
Games not in the database: D1AL-ogue, Demon Tides, Scarlet Maiden, Last Evil

Just a really great little racing game. Being right on the edge of out of control, especially with the faster tier cars, is great. Incredible drifting.
The long and short of it is that I've been an Earthbound hater most of my life. The humor just did not click with younger me and several early sections of the game being complete slogs to fight through led to me bouncing off completely. Earlier this year, I went in with an open mind, and I can see now why its some people's favorite game of all time. The last section, especially, I can see fundamentally altering someone's brain chemistry if you played it at just the right time. My personal highlight is probably the fight(s) with all of the No. 3 Moles.
I played through a solid bit of Day of the Tentacle maybe eight years ago and by "a solid bit of", I apparently mean "almost the entire dang game" and just didn't realize it. I highly recommend the Universal Hint System, a great resource for fans of old adventure games where you just want a little spoiler free hint on where to go next instead of just reading a walkthrough.
Sometimes you just want to play a great video game. Metroid Fusion isn't my favorite Metroid, but it's definitely top 5.
I will always love you Dragon Quest.
I spent the better part of a decade thinking I was too much of a weenie to actually attempt Resident Evil 7. I'm generally not a horror movie fan (I don't particularly like jumpscares) and the horror games I enjoy are more about vibes (like Silent Hill or Signalis) than making sure to scare the piss out of you. Still, with Requiem coming out, I decided that it was time to just bite the bullet and try RE7, though I did look up where some of the scarier bits were ahead of time. Came out the other side really enjoying it! I love the simplicity of the action. The limited inventory and weapon selection really make this one stand out.
My biggest sin as a fan of Kirby is that I find Super Star kinda mid. I love all of the Copy Abilities having expanded movesets, but I don't love how awkward it is swapping those abilities out. I also find a lot of the modes underbaked and over far too quickly. My personal favorite is Milky Way Wishes, with the slow drip of permanent abilities you can hot swap.
Detective games, at their best, make you feel like the smartest person in the world and Blake Manor happened to fit my brain just right. Solving clues, putting together pieces, figuring out the truth. My one major criticism is that it's less 'detecting' and more 'breaking into people's room', but you still have to be able to pierce the veil yourself, so I can't complain too much.
Absolutely adored this game, but the sequel completely blows it out of the water.
It's Crash Bandicoot but with Donald Duck? Sure???
