The turban is a head gear worn across large parts of the Middle East, Indian subcontinent, Northern & Eastern Africa, and Southeast Asia. It is often used as a religious head cover in the Sikh religion, or as a hat to protect from the desert conditions of sandstorms, sunlight, and wind.

The turban is a kind of headwear based on clothe winding; there are many variations. Turbans are usually worn as customary headwear, usually by men, in many communities across the Middle East (Location), Indian subcontinent, Philippines, Afghanistan (Location), parts of northern and eastern Africa (Location) (particularly Kenya (Location) and several Arab nations), and parts of Jamaica (Location). Turbans worn in Indiaand Pakistan are known as Pagri. In the Middle Ages, turbans were also worn by the Byzantine Greeks.
