Saint Petersburg ( Санкт-Петербург) is the second largest city in Russia (Location) (second only to Moscow (Location)), and also the fourth largest city in Europe. In 1914, the city name was changed to Petrograd. In 1924, after the Russian Revolution and arrival of the Soviet government, it was changed again to Leningrad. Saint Petersburg was founded in 1703, and is considered the most westernized city in Russia. The city is home to the world's largest art gallery: The Hermitage. The Red Revolution that put Vladimir Lenin in power within Russia started inside the city when it was known as Petrograd. Three days after Lenin's death, on the 26th of January 1924, the city was renamed in his honor. The Neva River flows through much of the center of the city.
