A bizarre falling-block puzzle game for the 3DO (and later PS1) that plays similar to Puyo Puyo.

Overview

Uchuu Seibutsu Flopon-kun ("Space Creature Flopon") is a comedic falling-block, tile-matching puzzle game developed by Warp and published by San-ei Shobo Publishing for the 3DO (Platform) in Japan on August 6, 1994. Similar to the Puyo Puyo (Franchise) series, players manipulate groups of falling blocks of different colors and styles onto the 6x13 playfield in order to form paths of four-or-more blocks, which make them disappear and causes blocks above them to fall downward (potentially causing chain reactions. Along with its bizarre and comedic nature, the game is known for its unique three-block piece pattern (which is rotated into both angles and lines, for eight total rotations) and for its system of forming large 2x2 blocks of the same color (which clear automatically once another clear of the same color is made, and can be combined into a giant 4x4 block). The Japanese version of the game includes several bonus mini-games, including the flag-guessing game "Hata-age Daigaku", the pervert-punching "Oyaji Hunter" (which would be spun off into its own mahjong game), and the interactive visualizer "Dance Tengoku". Warp later expanded on the mini-game collection concept with the Japanese-exclusive 3DO games Flopon World and Short Warp (Game). The game later received an updated Japan-exclusive conversion for the Sony Playstation, where it was released by Asmik on March 3, 1995 as Uchuu Seibutsu Flopon-kun P!. This version does not include the mini-games and includes several differences in art style (including pre-rendered 3D characters, several of which are from Totsugeki Karakuri Megadasu!!). It also received a localized overseas release by Panasonic in 1995, where it is known as Trip'd. This version includes several differences in art style, some of which is more surreal. Only the visualizer mini-game is included (as "Trip'Dance"). This version was later included in both Flopon World and Short Warp as Uchuu Seibutsu Flopon-kun 2.
