Samurai
Samurai is the first known hack & slash brawler, released by Sega in 1980. The player character is armed with a sword and simultaneously faces multiple opponents in an arena before facing a boss opponent.
Overview
The game ran on the Sega Vic Dual arcade system board.
It was the first known brawler, featuring a single opponent fighting against multiple opponents in melee martial arts combat. This predated the first beat 'em up, Kung-Fu Master (1984).
It was also first known hack andamp;amp;amp; slash brawler, pressing a sword button to slash enemies with the samurai player character's katanablade.
It was also the first known action game to feature a boss fight with a bossopponent, predating other arcade games such as Sasuke vs Commander (Game) and Phoenixlater on in 1980.
