A futuristic kart racing game for the Xbox where your acceleration is tied to your driver's heart rate, and too much can cause a heart attack!

Overview

Pulse Racer is a sci-fi kart racer developed and published by Jaleco Entertainment for the Xbox (Platform) in North America on December 10, 2002. Set in the futuristic year of 2045 in Neo Saint Petersburg, Pulse Racer puts players in "Formula T" racing with vehicles powered by the life force of the drivers themselves, where they can push the driver's heart rate to speed up their vehicle (at the risk of having a cardiac arrest and temporarily flatlining). Along with multiple power-ups, the game features a unique system for drifting around corners, where special "plasma orbs" outside of the track can be electrically tethered (or "beamed") onto to turn corners with no speed loss. The game is also known for its procedural track building system, known as INFINITRAX, with player able to create custom tracks based on parameters that are unlocked through the game's Career Race mode. It also includes four-player split-screen multiplayer.
