Overview

Links LS: Legends in Sports - 1997 Edition, also known as Links LS 1997, is a behind-the-back golf simulation game developed and published by Access for DOS PCs in 1996. The third installment of the Links (Franchise) series and the sequel to Links 386 Pro (Game), Links LS features another revamp of the UI and rendering engine, including high-resolution support (including XGA and UXGA) and a retractable control panel. It also includes new gameplay features, such as customizable A.I. opponents and new game modes (such as Best Ball, Match, and Skins). It also includes support for courses released for the previous Links installments. Intended to be the first in the Links "Tour Player Series", Links LS features the inclusion of professional golfer Arnold Palmer (Person) as a playable golfer and opponent, as well as three of his courses (the Latrobe Country Club in Pennsylvania (Location) and both the Plantation and Village courses of the Kapalua Resort in Hawai'i (Location)). It also includes a bonus disc, known as Arnold Palmer at Latrobe C.C., which includes exclusive multimedia footage relating to Palmer (including interviews and documentaries) alongside a "virtual tour" of his office/workshop. It later received multiple Windows updates, including Links LS: 1998 Edition, Links LS 1999 (Game), and Links LS 2000 (Game), as well as the spin-off Links Extreme (Game).
