Blockids is a block-breaking game developed and published by Athena for the Sony PlayStation in Japan on February 23, 1996, with overseas releases by Natsume (Company) in North America on August 4, 2003 and Europe on February 2004.
A unique 3D take on the block kuzushi genre, Blockids builds on the formula by having blocks stack on top of each-other, which fall into place using gravity (towards the board itself, rather than the bottom of it). It also features multiple camera angles and special abilties (such as being able to have the ball leap over blocks. It is notable for supporting analog paddle controls, with the Japanese version also sold as a special bundle with Namco's Volume Controller peripheral.
Along with a "Challenge" mode, the game includes a multi-stage "Adventure" mode where players choose from one of six characters and proceed through 50 stages (with every 10th stage being a boss battle).
It later received a digital PlayStation Network (Concept) release (as a PSone Classics (Concept) title) in Japan on August 27, 2008, in North America on November 30, 2010, and in Europe on November 16, 2011, with the NA and EU versions released by MonkeyPaw Games (Company).
