Unstable Platforms
If the protagonist is standing on an unstable platform for a certain amount of time, it will eventually drop. Usually there is a pit below, or some other hazardous danger.

Unstable platforms are usually found in platformers. The player musn't stay on it for too long or it'll fall or break sending the player plumetting to his or her doom. Some unstable platforms tell you when they are about to collapse by blinking, cracking or shaking. In platformers unstable platforms are usually found in the most challenging levels and require good timing and skill to master them.
