Tony Soprano is the acting boss of the DiMeo Crime Family based in New Jersey. He takes control of the family after his uncle Corrado "Junior" Soprano is put under house arrest by the FBI. Tony Soprano also has some legitimate businesses from waste management to a gentleman's club that he runs.
Tony Soprano was played by the late actor James Gandolfini (Person). The character was also played as a teenager by his son Michael in The Many Saints of Newark.
Biography
Anthony John Soprano, Sr. was born in 1959 to Livia and Johnny Boy Soprano. He is a middle child, having an older sister Janice and a younger sister called Barbara. During his childhood, Tony was close with his uncle Junior as the two spent time playing catch with eachother. Tony also witnessed his father and uncle's mob life up close, including one time which Johnny mutilated Mr. Satriale's finger due to gambling debts - which later induced Tony's first panic attack.
Tony is married to Carmela Soprano (nee DeAngelis) and the pair have two children, Meadow (born 1982) and Anthony Jr (born 1985).
The Sopranos
After Tony has a panic attack during a family cookout when a flock of ducks leave his pool, he consults his physician and neighbor Bruce Cusamano who refers him to Dr. Jennifer Melfi to find out the cause of these recurring panic attacks. Tony explains how hard to please his mother is, which Dr. Melfi contributes to his attacks.
