An old Gestral who was taught to speak human language by Verso. He joins the Expedition for the promise of good fights.

Overview
Monoco is an older Gestral who joined with Verso in a previous failed attempt to take down the Paintress. Instead, he decided to bide his time at a long-abandoned train station that serves as his home and a spot for the Grandis who were fleeing more violent Nevrons. Several years later, Verso led the remnants of Expedition 33 to visit Monoco. Like most Gestrals, he fights for fun and to relax. Though he initially refuses to join Verso and E33, thinking that they are setting themselves up for failure, he is quickly convinced by Verso that they will fight many Nevrons on their way, and joins them.
Monoco's weapon type is a large bell attached to a stick that the Grandis made for him, as thanks for his shelter.
Gameplay
Monoco is unique in that, unlike other party members, he can learn new skills by harvesting the feet of defeated Nevrons (don't ask how that works, even Verso says as much in game). As long as he is in the main party, even if he is KO'd during battle, he can learn the skill after the player successfully completes the battle, and then equip up to 6 of them like any other party member.
Beastial Wheel
Monoco's unique battle skill is the Beastial Wheel. Along with his unique way of learning new skills, the Beastial Wheel can enhance the skill of a matching type that it is currently on, and it spins with every successful hit he makes on an enemy while using a skill. Some spins can also be triggered through different weapons Monoco equips. The Beastial Wheel slots include:
- Balanced: Red color, no real specializations, but can be set up for combos from other buffs or Marks.
- Caster: Blue color, usually involves healing and status effects.
- Heavy: Green color, usually for skills that involve heavy, high-damage attacks.
- Agile: Purple color, usually for skills that involve haste and multiple attacks in one turn.
- Almighty: Yellow color, will trigger the bonus effect on any of Monoco's equipped skills, regardless of their type.
