Detlef Schrempf is a retired NBA player.

Detlef Schrempf is a 6'9", 214 lb. Forward-Center from the University of Washington who played for the Dallas Mavericks, Indiana Pacers, Seattle SuperSonics, and Portland TrailBlazers. He was born in Leverkusen, West Germany and moved to Washington State, USA when he was a senior in high school. He played one year at Centralia High School before moving on to the University of Washington, where he played four years. He was selected 8th overall by the Dallas Mavericks in the 1985 NBA Draft. He played in Dallas for 3 1/2 seasons before being traded alongside a 1990 2nd Round Draft Pick (Antonio Davis) to the Indiana Pacers for Herb Williams. Following his All-Star season during the 1992-93 regular season, he was traded to the Seattle SuperSonics for Derrick McKey and Gerald Paddio. He would average at least 15 points per game, 5 rebounds per game, and 3 assists per game in all his seasons with Seattle. He was selected to be an All-Star for his second and third time in the 1994-95 and 1996-97 seasons. In the 1996 postseason the Sonics reached the NBA Finals, where they lost to the Chicago Bulls in 6 games. Schrempf was released by the SuperSonics after the 1998-99 NBA season. He signed with the Portland TrailBlazers as a free agent, where he would play until his retirement in 2001. Schrempf played for the West German national team in the 1984 Olympics and the German national team in the 1992 Olympics. He is in the original NBA Jam and is in the new NBA Jam released in 2010.
