Ben Wallace is a retired power forward/center from Virginia Union University who has played for the Washington Bullets (and Wizards), Orlando Magic, Detroit Pistons, Chicago Bulls, and Cleveland Cavaliers. Over his career he averaged 9.6 rebounds per game and 2 blocks per game. Wallace was born in White Hall, Alabama. He went to Central High School in Hayneville, where he played basketball, baseball, and football. After high school he played two years at the junior college level at Cuyahoga Community College in Cleveland, Ohio. He then played at Virginia Union University, where he would lead the Panthers to the Final Four. Before coming to the NBA Wallace played in Italy. On October 2, 1996 he signed as a free agent with the Orlando Magic. On August 3, 2000 Wallace was traded to the Detroit Pistonss. With Detroit he would win a NBA championship, be elected to four All-Star Games and named NBA Defensive Player of the Year four times. Wallace would later play for the Chicago Bulls, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Phoenix Suns before re-signing with the Pistons in 2009.
