I always remember having fun playing Donkey Kong Country on the SNES so when I saw that Donkey Kong Country Returns was coming out to 3DS I decided to pick it up. It was a game I have been doing a few levels here and there over the past few months and I finally beat it (I did not go for the bonus temple levels). The game features 8 worlds that have around 7 levels + boss in them. Each world has a fairly distinct look and offer varying mechanics throughout the levels. Each level features collectibles in the form of KONG letters (like the original game) and puzzle pieces. I didn't specifically try to collect these items but it does provide some replay value for someone who wants to collect everything. The game brings back the ride-able rhino but the other animals are nowhere to be seen in addition to the rail cart levels. They did add a few rocket levels in the form of a game where you are moving to the right and falling (pressing A makes you go up) which changes up the normal platforming sequences. My one big problem with the game is that some of these levels felt extremely difficult which led to some frustration. The controls seemed to be pretty tight except for Donkey Kong having some weight to him and not being able to stop immediately. The graphics and sound were fine for me.

Overall the game was pretty fun and people who enjoyed the first one will probably like this. However there was nothing that really made me want to keep playing other than to say that I finished the game.
